Same - Game is nearly unplayable. Same lock, same screen when choosing anything from the “Services” menu or working on roads. Even just selecting a building can cause the freeze.

There are so many complaints about this over several months and nothing is done about it. It is only iOS that has the problem and EA do not have any competent programmers to resolve it. They are too busy adding new features that nobody wants, and bugs, to worry about the thousands of iOS users that they are losing.

Yeah, it’s sad. I’ve been playing this game for 10 years and about ready to hang up my hat on it. All these ridiculous upgrades you have to do, its time-consuming and not to mention the stupid glitch that I keep getting isn’t helping

Yeah, it’s ridiculous!

So, frustrating isn't it.
With all the constant updates, repeating the same answers and constantly have to troubleshoot.
I get it. Why do we have to do that ALL THE TIME?
Because it works.
- Making sure iOS and the game are updated ensures the most recent technology is used.
- Clearing the cache or offloading/reinstall removes corrupted files and redundant images that cause graphic glitches.
- Ensuring there is 2-15 GB of free storage space allows room for working memory to run processes effectively in such a graphic heavy/memory consuming game.
- Disabling backup apps refresh prevents processes from running in the background that interfere with gameplay.
- Forcing a restart resets working memory rather than a shutdown/restart which keeps working memory where it's at.
Please, see my profile and all other contributions in the forums to gain a complete picture of why this seems to only affect iOS and why these steps are necessary with every update.
iOS is unforgiving.

iPhone or iPad?
If iPad, A-Series or M-Series?
- brwnjo81 month agoRising Novice
iPad Air 4th Gen
- GiftedRere19861 month agoRising Scout
Ouch. A-Series, released around the same time Apple started implementing M-Series.
You'll likely continue to have increased performance issues do to age or obsolescence. See my post about the iPhone/iPad for more details

I have this sane thing happen on mine. Buildings and a control net. It just freezes up every time. I even deleted and redownloaded the game and same thing. The game is pretty much unplayable.

I have thought one more thing that might be contributing. Do you have any buildings/decorations the provide extra/visual graphic effects?
- GiftedRere19861 month agoRising Scout
Do you have any buildings/decorations with extra graphic visuals and effects like the Chicago Skyline... Water (ponds, lakes)?
I'd like to clarify one more thing, is it the same pink pixelation and freezing that you mean when you say crashing, or does the game abruptly stop and you see your home screen?
- Vernissa1 month agoSeasoned Ace
The game goes black and freezes. It does not go back to the Home Screen.
I have a few ponds but nothing with special effects, that I know of.

I apologize for the late response, only now saw this.
Due to pink pixelation primarily being a graphics problem (with multiple factors including Internet and user settings), having ruled out everything I can think of and understanding my knowledge is not exhaustive, I keep circling back to device compatibility.
It's an unfair conclusion. But, players are reporting relief when replacing the device.
I recognize my limits to help.
