Technical Observation: Massive Data Bloat after Rollout (33 GB)

I am opening this thread to share an important observation regarding game performance following the recent rollout.

After the update, I experienced severe lagging. Upon checking my tablet’s storage settings, I found that the App Data (not the cache) had increased to a staggering 33 GB.

Solution found:

I performed a full uninstallation and a clean reinstall. The app data is now back to 360 MB, and  the game runs smoothly again.

This suggests that the new rollout might have a bug in how it handles or downloads data assets, leading to this extreme storage consumption. A simple cache-clear does not solve this.

I would highly recommend that the technical team looks into this data management issue. In the meantime, I suggest other players check their total storage usage if they encounter similar performance problems.

Thank you for lookingI into this!

  • The app data does build up over time. Every image that is ever shown on screen sits in your app data. This is especially impactful if you do a lot of DC voting.

I've got into the habit of deleting app data every two seasons or so. Seems to keep things running smoothly.

A quick follow-up: I realized that for over a year, I never received an in-game  prompt to update via the Play Store, nor did I feel the need to check for updates manually because the game always ran without issues.

It seems the app was updating itself entirely in the background all this time. I  suspect that this long period of background-only updates led to a massive buildup of data that was never properly cleaned up, eventually resulting in the 33 GB of 'data garbage' I found after the latest rollout. This might be a key factor for the technical team to investigate.
