So I got this mission for the second time now, but I have no clue what to do. A terrorist threatens with a bomb if I don't pay one million $. I am not given a choice and I have to plop a detective wing (already 3 present in the city) and then it says I need to find the bomb.
How do I do this? And why do I need a detective wing if the three cars are just staying in their parking lot during this whole mission?
Last time I couldn't solve it either and a building blew up...
I just got this mission and it worked fine. Not sure if there was a reward, but it was a nice change of pace.
I already had the detective add-on. It seemed to work automatically; the bomb was found. I don't know if it mattered, but I also deployed Maxis Man.
I have to say, though, I don't know when this mission was programmed into the game, but I didn't see it until after the 2.0 update. It seems to be in poor taste to have this in the game, especially after Boston. Had the Boston bombing not happened, I still would have felt that this was a worthless addition. I'm sure they could have come up with a better option for a timed mission, like something to do with the hazmat truck.

This was my feelings on it, terrible thing but then so is an earthquake, or any other thing a city deals with for that matter.
Personally i'd like to see SWAT deployed in an addon or a pack.
I guess you haven't played many of Maxis' previous games. The bomb mission has been around for a very long time. This little known game called SimTower is the first one I remember seeing it in. There was a bomb threat against your tower, and you only had a few minutes to find the bomb. Well, your security teams only had a few minutes.
I just saw this mission tonight for the first time, hopped on here to find out if there was anything that I needed to do personally, or if it was like previous missions in this vein.
PS, if your detectives fail to find the bomb, something does blow up. You will have a few fires to contend with.
I get that mission today and, just 1 hour and i can't find it, is there some Easier way to find the bomb ?
@Elavanor - The only real thing you can do is plop the detective wing (if you don't already have one) and wait for them to patrol the city. Hopefully, your detectives will go out and happen upon the bombers while they're planning the attack and then your policemen will arrest them.
The whole mission is probably to alert you to how the detective add-on to the police precinct works. Detectives search the city and do "stakeouts" to watch for criminals before they do the crime. Police can only arrest criminals while they're actually committing the crime.
