Can't play SimCity - city won't load, hangs in load screen

Have read multiple forums, spoken with tech support and now here I am. This game is riddled with bugs, and now to top it off, I can't play it at all.

The reason for the new post is because I can't play at all. All other related threads are about people not being able to get the game to load, or about not being able to play a specific city. I can get the game to load, but can't play any city at all.

My SimCity updater works fine and connects to servers. I can then go through the menu screen and select a city to play. It then runs through all the loading (reticulating spleens etc.) but never actually gets into the city.

Here's what I've tried (from other threads):

  1. Restart game
  2. Restart computer
  3. Swap servers
  4. Try playing a private game
  5. Run repair install
  6. Run SimCity Recovery App
  7. Reinstall SimCity
  8. Wait for it (to apparently connect to the servers) for 3 hours
  9. Remove contents of UserData folder (can't even play the tutorial after doing this)

None of this has worked, so enlighten me... what next? Should I give up and just say that it was well worth the money for a box with a shiny plastic disc inside?

    I too have this problem.  Hangs on the loading screen and keeps loading forever.  Never actually loads the city.  Its like this with all my cities and starting a new one.

    This is a bug,

    Best of hope for EA finding this and fixing it.  ( Which will take a long time, annoying yeah)

    I have the same problem too, and this was a result from update 3.0. I say this because it was fine before the update and even after update 3.1 it still won't load! Its just stuck in the reticulating spleens screen! This is one of the worst customer support experiences I face and it is an obomination coming from a supposed reputable games company called "EA"

    I spoke a customer support rep today and she had advised that I try the simcity recovery procedure;

    Unfortunately it did not work for me. As requested by the rep I am posting to say that the recovery DID NOT work for me and I am still unable to load my city. It is still stuck in the "Now Entering" or also known as the  reticulating spleens screen.

    Hey guys, I uninstalled and re-installed simcity and now my city loads yay! Give it a try and I hope this works for everyone who has been stuck in the loading screen.

    Same thing happened to me.

    First one of my  cities wont load anymore--300 Simoleons lost.

    then I cant load the other 2 cities...there is a white background where the city name and it says animating sand..petting goats etc..

    plus i cant turn off the game..I have to ctrl+alt+delete and kill it from task manager.

    In last 3 days this game has gone from somewhat working to dead.

    I bought the game 3 months ago and guess what the warranty is only for 90 days!\

    Wish there was an 800 # to call.
