If it takes a lawsuit for this companies to stop treating us (the gamer/customer) like some sub-human class that only deserves what measley hand-outs EA can afford (i.e. their terribad servers).

This 4-5 hour patch sequence (DURING MIDDAY) is a shot across the bow to all gamers saying this:
"WE ARE EA, AND WE DON'T GIVE A **bleep**."
Hey **bleep**, I worked a morning shift to come home and find the servers locked out.
I am not unemployed and EITHER WAY, we paid for a product we aren't allowed access to for vague reasons that are nearly impossible to find.
We are upset because they OBVIOUSLY do not care.
Flowers you should just stop posting TBH, we all know you are a clueless white-knight who makes all his conclusions based on emotion (brand loyalty) rather than fact.

Actually, its you, the people who buy a product and don't like it, then throw silly words around like rights and idiots, when you really have no idea what those words mean.
You bought a product that was not misrepresented in any way. It was announced it was online, over servers, no single player.
Everyone.. EVERYONE knows that launches have problems. Its a fact of online servers with thousands of people simultaneously doing things at once.
They take the servers down to fix those problems and everyone tries to rip EA a new one... I just don't understand the logic what so ever.

I am not sticking up for the guy... I mean when you purchase something you expect it to work. If you bought a PC and it crashed or a car and it died upon purchase you would return it.
But honestly the way people talk about being able to play a game that will only increase their happiness temporaily over their life is ridiculous. If people would pay this much attention too and care this much about real life the U.S. would be a much better place
While you're right on the whole buyer-beware aspect flowers, your wrong in the fact that when I purchase ANYTHING I expect it to work. I'm not a beta tester, that's their job (I did do beta on this, but that's not my point). All these "server" issues should have been ironed out pre-launch. We all know that the issue is that they pushed it out even though they knew it wasn't ready and had flaws. WE KNOW. It happens, and it's sad that we accept that in some things. But for gods sake, please just keep us in the loop. Tell us what's up! Give us half hour updates saying Hi guys it's such and such time and we're still working on the issue, you can get back on by such and such a time. Thanks for your patience. yada yada yada. But we not getting anything and it's making people crazy, like the OP and the guy going nuts at you. So practice what you preach my friend, and have some patience and understanding.
I agree with this man. I'm not a big fan of EA either especially when they disbanded Westwood Studios. To be fair though Westwood had it coming. They were trying to be unique and taking risks of making games that no-one wanted. Then when they do want to create something different that people support it is too late. EA is just like anyone else. It is about securing it's own future. No company would ever purposefully do something to compromise the happiness of it's customers. Not that they need to worry about happiness when they have loyal customers to the brands they simply happen to own. Never buy or do something the moment it is released. Expect theatres to be overcrowded on day one of a popularly released title. There will always be another day to see it on the big screen. You can wait a day or two. It looks like the average consumer never learns. I hate working in retail for this very fact. Consumers act the same way every time. They always want what's cheap and advertised instead of what they happen to like.

But would you also expect to be able to drive your car while its in for service, or play your pc while its ram or HDD is being upgraded? Lol first world problems, gotta love em :D
This is the problem with metaphors in arguments; eventually they break down. The fact is, video games are a service which can be used while being fixed.

Last I checked, you can play Diablo 3 when you're installing it once it's reached a certain point. Metaphor failed.
ETA: Also, if the car was in for servicing through no fault of my own, I'd expect whoever was responsible to provide me with a temporary vehicle. I'd expect the much the same if a webserver that I was contracting was experiencing technical issues - a loaner HDD or RAM in the machine while they figure out what's wrong with what's in there.
So yeah. Way to make yourself look like a genius, bro.
Needless to say on any of other rantings and non topic dicussions... EA will find itself tredding in waters they really could have avoided. It happens, and no matter what some people might say to argue the point. It has happened, and it will happen again. EA never learns from its mistakes. Now, on the other hand. I do like the game... from what I could play of it. However, it still needs single player mode off the servers.

That SimCity Update page means s**t to us all. Because NO ONE CAN CONNECT! Sure you can (sometimes) view the server list, but once you click on a server and apply it, it just says something along the lines of "The server you have chosen is current down. Please try again later". This happens EVEN WHEN it says AVAILABLE. That Maxis SimCity post means nothing to many of us right now.

I whole heartedly agree with all of you. I loved EA games....in the past, until the introduction of the origin client. I stopped buying games online when they forced the client on to my systems. I was so excited when I saw this release of Simcity was in production. I purchased it on Monday, then was heartbroken when I saw I was being forced to install the origin client even though I purchased the DVD from BestBuy. I originally installed on my 4 year old gaming laptop only to find my CPU was good enough, but the graphics card could not handle the maxed out graphics. Working in IT, I understand that games and system requirements grow over time. So now I am installing it on my Intel Core I7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHZ Mhz (4 cores with 8 logical processors), 16 GB of ram (32 GB of Virtual RAM) a NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M card with a dedicated 2GB RAM, and an Internet connection that would make your phone melt....yet the 2.20 GB update pushed from Origin which took a massive amount of time gave me plenty of time to write this review......
This is the absolute last game I will purchase from EA. Your Android games are slow and crash constantly (for example Scrabble) and based on my first time experience and the reviews I have read of this game...I can bet it won't be much different. Get it together EA, this is so sad.
That's an interesting solution you offer to a clearly poor product launch: suck it up and wait. If you buy a brand-new car and the engine falls off 5 miutes later, would you accept "suck it up, p@ssy, just walk home" as a dealer's explanation? I don't think so. The company must provide reasonable guarantees. Sure, there can be bugs, intitally. But what we are talking about here are not minor inconveniences - it is complete and utter inability to use the product you paid for, and the only reason is the product vendor designed it in a way that it cannot be used.
I think we should all see because all EA wants is money, I’m sure there’s something about sewing the company for unfair advantage which is just * ridiculous at this point. A multi billion dollar company wants money give me a * break
