The game never froze or crashed before, this is a new issue. I can play about 5 minutes and it freezes, music still goes, but screen freezes and nothing else can be done, then I have to do a TASK MANAGER to close out the game. Is there a patch or what is the problem? Is it with the servers trying to save my game? I notice that everytime it crashes it goes back to the last saved game, and none of the changes I implemented have taken effect.
I seem to be having a similar issue except for a few differences. My freeze initially happened when I tried to change my tax rate. I changed it slower and got beyond that. I was able to get past a few game saves before the freeze randomly happened again many times. I used the chat online feature to talk with a "game advisor". Man that was an exercise in futility. It took about an hour to get a live rep and when I did he took over 5 minutes to respond to anything I typed. After about an 1.5 hours of this nonsense he gave me some possible solutions. I have them listed http://answers.ea.com/t5/Crashes/Game-freezes/m-p/830538#U830538
I did some of them. It turned out I didn't have the latest GeForce driver for my card ( I checked that while waiting for the live rep) so I updated that and now the game freezes as it zooms into the city from the region map when I 1st load the city. I even tried repairing the game as was recommended since after the vid update the repair feature was now clickable as it wasn't before. No help. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game and again no help. I didn't lower settings because what is the point in that when I have more than enough PC to handle this pathetic game and I was able to play it for 3 weeks before this nonsense? Other sites and posts recommend playing in windowed mode and turning off V-sync. But, again what is the point? Why should I play a game at lower settings and features when I have more than enough PC to handle this game? Why would I (or anyone) want to dissable security features like some have recommended. I read one where the suggestion was to dissable anti-virus software lmao. EA evan has a suggestion for those that can't load the game to turn off UAC. Again I think that is as bad as turning off anti-virus software for an ALWAYS online game. DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!!
The strange thing is that I was playing for about 8 or so hours when the 1st freeze happened and it was about the time they implimented patch 1.8 (at least I think it was close to the same time). I was playing under patch 1.7 when it froze.
Soooo frustrated and sooo dissatisfied with this product.
Speaking of bugs, has anyone had school busses jam up a 6 lane avenue when all the busses from 4 other grade schools plus 1 high school's busses try to park at the same grade school after dropping the kiddies home? It seems to happen only if an ambulance is in the pack of follow the leader school busses. They sit there all night blocking traffic in all directions unless you quit to the main menu. In the morning they go back to normal.
Maybe I should download SimCity4 and forget about this always online piece of wonderful programming.
End of rant.
