Appearance Eye shape update

Season 0Season 1Season 1 (in-game + in the shade) - clearly glitched

The eyes getting smaller (and darker) seems like a response to people who didnt like the artstyle but it doesn't really look any better

I know the wide open or big eyes contributed to some of the facial animations on emotes looking like the skater was on crack but also i think thats more of an animation issue than a thing with the actual shape of the eyes..

I can get used to having more eyelashes but maybe an eye openness slider would be nice

*actually i just realized the eyelashes are exactly the same but they are bunched together more due to the smaller eye size

Agreed, the changes to the eyes look much worse. Coupled with the new lighting my guy just looks crazy baked now.

  • I think they look better than they did, but they are still nowhere near where they need to be. For a game touted as being about self-expression, making your character from Mr Potato Head parts feels cheap and tacky.

it could be done fine if the parts were any good, most stuff just ends up looking the same.

Rock band knew what it was doing.

Watch this, it's still stylized but in a way that feels more like a caricature rather than just a weird art style. Like you had control over the "character" you made.

That’s certainly a better version of the system, but I still think it’s limited in comparison to slider based systems. It also produces ‘perfect’ results, which was part of RockBand’s design philosophy in creating chiselled rockstar characters. By contrast, I’d like a system that allows me to sculpt a face and its features to tell a story about who my character is and how they’re living. You just don’t get that with predetermined pieces.
