Cosmetic Suggestion: Santa Hat
TL;DR:
I’ve been working on some conceptual fan art for my portfolio. This Santa Hat is one of the more recent projects I worked on in relation to the holidays.
I'm praying we get something like this as a cosmetic or event reward for Winter Roll-stice.
Boring Stuff:
Although I recently shared some QoL suggestions, most of my work is cosmetic based. I wanted to create some fan art for my portfolio and one of the items I've been working on is this Santa Hat. With Christmas coming up, I figured we'll be seeing some form of holiday event (Winter Roll-stice), so I wanted to share something I would love to see in-game.
My work is usually focused on realism, but I wanted to keep everything within the current art style. I don't often sculpt, but it's always refreshing to work on something new. I created a blockout of my character’s head and began sculpting the hat. After modelling the mesh, I started working on the texture maps, took a high poly render for the in-game concept, and then quickly remeshed the model to share. From my experience, the current model still needs to be retopologized to fit with the games average poly count. A few other things like, a final bake and capping, but definitely some more work to do.
I work in so many creative areas from branding, UI development, systems and structure planning to 3D modeling, texturing, rigging, and animation. I've managed large online communities, coordinated teams, and developed live service games where things break, expectations shift, and you need to adapt fast. Even in real life, I design clothing and cut and sew garments, so I'm never short of ideas.
