Improvements on transition skating/ledge skating/QoL skating stuff
Seshing a half-pipe in Skate. is nowhere near close. I have the pump assist completely turned off and still can't manage to get any speed to do more than a 360 2ft above the coping. I just tested this out in the maloof money cup map --> halfpipe on skate 3. And sessioning the half pipe is so fun. Being able to do the different types of handplants. Then next hit I already have enough speed to do a good sized air. Even in the hardcore difficulty. Also in skate 3 with the fingerflips/indy to stalefish type grabs. It's so good. Hope to see this return in skate.? Also whenever pumping gets fixed, can ya'll please make the animation a lil more satisfying? The "squat" double grab animation is super ugly. Isn't even noticeable in skate 3. SUPER noticeable in skate. Also, when I get to the coping and just try to do a 5050 or any sort of grind on a quarterpipe. The game straight up doesn't know. You even have a mission that requires you to do it. I had to just step outside the bowl and ride on grind from the side. Still, barely was able to grind. In skate 3 it's actually not too bad. In any difficulty (easy, normal, hardcore). Not too grabby and vice-versa. I legit can do a 5-0 to fakie, and fakie smiths in skate 3 on transition consistently without accidentally just rolling over the coping or airing over (i'm not popping). Idea for transition grinds/slappies? Crooks and stuff aren't possible in past games. If ya'll can make it so if I'm backside going up to the coping and put my right stick in a top right diagonal direction. It'll put me into a back crook. That'd be pretty dope, and that mechanic should also be used for slappys. Idk how crazy ya'll can get with it. Like adding rock n rolls/rock to fakies. It might break the physics for the game. But crooks and stuff should maybe work? Idk this crook idea might be a reach. Might cause people to just explode anytime they pop somewhat close to any edge in the game. Or even in the halfpipe if they're nollie. But atleast getting the grinds back to how they worked in skate 3 would be a blessing.
tldr; improve pumping mechanics, add more handplants + fingerflips/grab variations that already existed (like indy to stalefish), fix quarterpipe grinds.
Ledge skating in this game is actually so good. I'm not a button masher skate, skater.... gamer? I like to envision the trick I want to do and do it. After doing some testing on skate 3 and skate. I will say skate. has way better ledge mechanics. The registration for getting into back tails and noseblunts is way better. BUT personally it's almost impossible to get into smiths and willys. On skate 3 I can do front smiths almost every try on a ledge. But on skate. it thinks I want to front lip. Personally for a front smith I'll ollie and then barely move the stick left to get my character to shift and it'll land in a smith. This version of skate LOVES to put you into board slides and lip slides. Also popping out of boardslide on rails is horrible. Even if you wait last second. If you try to pop out of a boardslide on a downrail, you explode.
Please allow us to ollie, grab, and foot plant off a wall. And please make the no-comply just a regular no-comply. Forcing it as a no-comply 180 is not bueno. Especially as a skater irl who likes no-complys. You have a "twist" system mechanic or whatever. You can allow players to even do backside no-comply 180s. I'd say with the "mechanic" on flatground max it out at 360. Adding this shouldn't break the game?
Can ya'll allow us to have 2 different saved skaters? Maybe 3? I'd like to have a guy and girl character, then a funny looking one. It takes so long to customize a character to really lock it in. It is nice after just playing skate 3 again for the first time in 5 years. And realizing that skate 3 body mods are fairly limited. But due to the pure amount of customizability. I can't make a dope looking girl character :/ not because it isn't possible but I spent sometime getting my character to look a way and I'm scared I won't be able to do that again.
Things I like: The boned ollie mechanic is SO GOOD. Love doing sw boned back 1s. Being able to do slow flips is AMAZING. The twist mechanic is so dope (just remembered it's called pre-spin). I also think the art style is fine in this game. I don't think people realize that with a art style like this. It'll make the game way less hardware dependent and allow the game to age over time without looking "old". The map is actually very good. I like it :3
Also.... I know the game is f2p and early access. Take the drop down objects out of the loot boxes. Everyone should have all the drop down stuff unlocked right when you first load in. Cosmetics: I've put 16.2 hours into skate. lowkey only grinding missions. And my character still looks default and ugly. There's going to be cool stuff in the item shop. Give the people some dope stuff for free and people will have no problems with buying stuff. Don't force people to have to pay for stuff. You'll accidentally kill the playerbase and lose money in the long run. People are going to want to pay for the grim reapers, teddy bear outfits etc etc. Do I just have to load into the game one day and hoping it has all the things I want my character to look like? My character is so ugly I can barely play the game and look at him. So if I don't play the game how am I supposed to know the spitfire wheels I want are in the shop? I have 20 different types of griptape though. But barely any hats, pants, shirts, etc etc. And is there any normal fitting pants in the game? Not super baggy, not skinny? Irl skating the pants are already starting to slim down. People still wear super baggy stuff but there's bootcut, and then regular loose straight cut jeans (which look proportionally to the pants I'm wearing in skate 3). And the way the characters wear the beanies... looks horrendous. I don't know any skater irl that wears their beanies like that.
My b for the controller ASMR.... Didn't realize my mic was on 🤦♀️
Videos: The one video in skate 3 where I'm wearing the brown button up shirt. I'm on hardcore difficulty. I only put that in there, to show how perpendicular/steep of an angle I went at the coping and the game still recognized I wanted to grind. I try to do that in skate. and I end up doing a tiny backside/frontside air.
I know it's annoying how everyone is talking about "just make it skate 3". Ya'll are doing a great job. Excited to see what the full release is going to look like and how far this game will go.
