Lack of Play Options

I really loved in the old Skate games how you’d do shoots for magazines, edit the photos and stuff like that. This just feels very Tony Hawk Pro Skater with gathering bearings, getting high scores and stuff.

The originals separated themselves from the back because of the realism. I know the attempt here is to make things more accessible to the average person, but I think this might be both a miscalculation as well as a lack of respect for your audience.

I understand the business model here and think it can still work but the clothing also feels like an incredibly cheap and tacky attempt too.

I am loving the gameplay once I tweaked the settings to make it a bit more challenging, but there are many improvements that could be made to make this game great that I am praying come to fruition.

  • I agree I unfortunately think its evident that they ignored the fanbase and tried to appease the masses for one last money grab. Part of what made skate's so fun was the storyline and the fun introductory video featuring pros and how starting off you're a nobody working for sponsorships/reputation etc. Every single challenge I've done so far feels like its been cookie cut straight out of a early 2000's Tony Hawk Pro skater. I really hope they can save this game and actually have the intentions of doing so and don't just tell us what we want to hear and not act on it.  Characters feel like a fever dream in Wii sports, as the above user mentioned clothing feels tacky and seems like its half-*** published into the fort nite store structure the game is using. Why cant i go to the skate shops and be able to choose from actual skate brands right off the rip like in previous skates? i understand certain articles being locked but having fruity generic clothing and locking all the real brands behind daily drops no one can access because of progression bugs unless they pay actual money is wild. Where are the tattoos/ bruises/ scratches etc.  I can sit and compare the differences all day long but its evident there is a huge "vibe" missing that all the other skates had. This game seems more centered on an arcade play style of parkour your way up the map and fly down and just feels like the game is tailored to showcase the new features of parkour, flying, scaling etc. Some people enjoy it and I'm not knocking it but feels "that" group of players were catered to rather than the actual fan base, as mentioned above the name of the game is SKATE and i cant even initiate a 1v1 or group challenge of S.K.A.T.E..........
