Major Issues When Loading Skate.
Every time, without fail, that i try to load the game, my screen turns completely black. I cant press any buttons, i cant even alt+f4, its as if my pc is frozen which then forces me to power off my pc by the button on my case. Even if i wait 5-10mins, nothing changes. My monitor also loses signal when this happens. This ONLY happens with Skate. I have tested a bunch of other games that i own to make sure and i dont have any problems with them so this cannot be an issue on my side. this has been happening for the last 3 days however i was able to get in and play last night and this morning. As of right now (6:54pm 04/07/2026) i cannot play the game at all. I have even tried reinstalling the game and it didnt work. i dont know if anybody else is struggling with this issue. i dont know what i can say other than please look into this issue.
This has been happening since the Season 3 update and, from what I've seen, it still hasn't been resolved.
There was already an investigation started months ago for the exact same issue, where the game would launch, switch to fullscreen, and then completely freeze the entire PC, sometimes even causing the monitor to lose signal and requiring a hard reset. That's exactly what's still happening.
Suggesting GPU driver updates and DxDiag reports is understandable, but many of us have already gone through all of those troubleshooting steps. People have updated drivers, reinstalled Windows, verified files, reinstalled the game, and tested other games without any issues. The common factor is still skate.
Every friend I have on PC experiences this same problem. The only reliable workaround we've found is to have another application running in fullscreen (such as a browser playing a video or another fullscreen window) until skate. reaches the main menu. Once the game finishes loading, it usually works normally. That strongly suggests this isn't simply a driver or hardware issue, but something related to how the game transitions into fullscreen during startup.
I also can't help but wonder how many players never come to the forums to report this. They install the game, their entire PC locks up, they're forced to hard reset their computer, and they simply stop trying to play. The number of reports here is probably only a small fraction of the people actually affected.
Hopefully this information can be passed along to the development team, because this issue has persisted since Season 3 and still appears to be affecting a significant number of PC players.
