Manual when trying to set up for a flip trick

Logged on today & for some reason when I'm trying to do a more intricate flip trick (laser flip/360 flip specifically) I find myself manualing & then I just ollie. This wasn't an issue for me yesterday, im wondering if they made manuals easier by instead balancing the right stick, you can just put it anywhere besides straight back? To do the more intricate flip tricks I have to go down on the right stick to set up for an ollie, & then move the stick where I need it. Not a huge deal but also requires relearning how to do the tricks in a timely manner. Is there any adjustment for this in game?
