Momentum / Pumping doesnt work

Hello, 

You cannot skate vert/ halfpipe with the current physics system. For example, the halfpipe to the side in bawski park or whatever, the place where you do the vert tutorial? Yeah, its impossible to get enough speed to actually clear either side of the halfpipe. I tried for 5 minutes straight. I am a skate 3 addict, been playing it consistently for years, I know what I'm doing.

 But it doesnt work. This is because "Pumping" doesnt work, which is when you press forward on the control stick as you transition from moving vertical down to horizontal. This is supposed to increase your speed. It does not do that.

The only way you can skate vert properly in this game is to go to the advanced gameplay settings and increase the pump/vert assist or whatever. Its set at 50 to begin with, which doesnt make any sense because at that setting you are stuck at this extremely slow and sluggish max speed while in vert areas no matter how much speed you'd actually get in a real world setting. You have to crank it to 100 to even get functional speed for doing tricks. 

This isn't a matter of taste, it is the fact that you literally cannot use the halfpipe I mentioned earlier without cranking up this setting.

    I found adjusting my very pump assist multiple times til I found what feels right worked . Try changing it little by little until you get the right feel . Hope this helps

    That excuse is annoying. When you’ve played every skate on release and something that worked fine before doesn’t work 16 years later after five years of development… it’s busted. Same thing with tick tacks. Don’t get me wrong everything else works nicely, if we don’t complain about it and just say “have patience” will they change it?

    the best result if you've played the old games:

    • use the triggers to grab instead of using the left stick
    • turn vertical pump assist to 0 (this way you get MORE boost from manually pumping - there was no assist in the old games)
    • half automatic pumping is a seperate setting which i keep ON because the timing mechanic is way more strict than the old games. makes vert and bowls way more enjoyable. might turn this off again if we get more boost from getting the timing right, as it is with vertical pump assist

     

    on PC i get a bug sometimes where pumping doesn't work AT ALL until i restart the game. doesn't show up in the trick counter either. none of my console friends have experienced this.
