My last feedback since you don't listen to the community

To preface this I must say that before Season 1 I was still keeping my hopes up. I understand how the market works, and that F2P games with less demanding graphics is the way to go to keep a game running. I was fine with it!

However, it has been made blatantly clear that what was once a passion project has just become a cash grab. The mechanics that you developed during the alphas and betas is great, the game runs really well and I love how the skating feels. But Skate used to be more about the culture - the music, the pros, the brands. But with the release of Season 1, this has completely changed.

I wasn't going to buy the Skate Pass anyway, but seeing the stuff in there is quite upsetting. What are these emotes? The cosmetics? It's all terrible. Have you actually gotten feedback from people within the skate community? Skating is a lot about getting sponsors, building a brand etc. This is just... empty.

The lingo in the missions is nothing but made up corporate "how do you do, fellow kids?". Music is nothing like it's supposed to; who greenlit songs like "Chores"?

We are still stuck with the terrible gamemode that is Jams, while the good ones like Spot Battle, S.K.A.T.E. and death races are nowhere mentioned.

Since you're not even responding to the actually constructive feedback, I'll stop trying. I'll stop playing. But it won't matter as people will keep playing and buying the microtransactions and I'll just have to watch my favourite franchise die with this game.

Thanks for (well, not) listening to my last rant.

  • Just to clarify some parts - I'm in no way shape or form dissatisfied with the early access of it all, but it's the route you picked. You said this was supposed to be you "giving back" to the fans, but all the Season 1 update is doing is drain wallets for poorly made cosmetics.

No mention of story mode, no offline, no good minigames. We are stuck with being forced to turn off Vee in the settings, and to play stupid line challenges.

That's all I have to say.

The fans listen and most stand with you.

Hopefully if enough of us keep going on about it, they may e-v-e-n-t-u-a-l-l-y listen.

I wouldn't stop trying yet. I'm not going to stop.

EA - Please listen to the fans and don't just go for a cash grab. Thats what Fifa is for and other online mutiplayers are for. Skate used to stand for somthing.

Fans listen, sure. But I'm afraid corporate greed is so big that as long as kids buy the Skate Pass, devs will see the numbers and keep going down this route. Only hope I have now is that since EA is going private, it might lead to less focus on profits for shareholders.

I really hope you're right, but I've been through this with other games already :(

It’s surprising that after all these years, and with skate culture influencing so many others, it still isn’t fully embraced in its authentic form. Anyone can go online and see what it’s really about — research is a core part of art direction — yet we keep ending up with this sterile, corporate-looking version instead.

Hardly anything about the new update gives off a 90s vibe. Honestly, I don’t think the character art style is the problem either. For example, look at Jet Set Radio — it shows that even a highly stylized approach can embody the essence of the late 90s and early 2000s — because the creators took the time to study the culture behind it.

True. They'll ban you off of their Discord and Steam forums if you're overly critical of the game. You don't even have to curse or say anything outlandish. All negative feedback that opposes their "vision" for the game is treated as if you just dropped the 'N' bomb. It's clear they have a chip on their shoulder. At this point I believe they're willfully going against the community out of spite.
