On-board Jump Height Is Too Low

I'm not new to Skate in particular or any skating games at all, but in all honesty skating around and landing tricks is a frustrating experience. It feels like on-board jump height is too low, and the wipeout threshold is too high. I'm finding myself tripping over the smallest lips on the ground, or failing to grind even the lowest railings or ledges because I'm not getting enough height to jump over them. It's taking me like 5+ attempts to complete even the simplest Challenges.

(And yes, I am very much aware that if you hold down the thumbstick for a longer period before you flick you can do a "higher" jump, but it's still not enough.)

Lol what? Past Skate games definitely did not have this low of on-board jump height. Also, not sure what game you're looking at but Skate is a arcade game, as much of one as any of the Tony Hawk games are.

I do just fine. Hold down longer, and then tweak your Ollie forward on the right thumb stick. That’s the best you get.

  • The ollie height is just fine imo, but sometimes when u go back to back rails, the next one is sometimes impossible to get as high as the first one.
