As much as I would love that you have to put yourself in their shoes and think realistically. You really think in the middle developing Skate. and of trying to grab as many players as possible to fund further development they'd shoot themself in the foot and open up online support for a 17 year old game that could steal players away and won't make them money?.
I think bringing Skate 2 back would provide valuable insight into what players actually want. If a large number of users choose to play Skate 2 instead of the new skate., that would clearly show which gameplay style the community prefers. This could be important feedback for the future development of skate.
Personally, I don't want a sequel to Skate 3—I want a game that surpasses the gameplay of Skate 2. If skate. can achieve that, I believe many players, including myself, would happily move to the new game.
I played Skate 2 for about five years and reached a high world ranking in Spot Battle. In comparison, I've found it difficult to stay interested in skate. for even five months. I genuinely want to enjoy and support skate., but right now it simply isn't as fun for me.
To improve skate., I think the developers first need to understand what players are actually looking for. That's why I believe making the older games available again would be beneficial—it would provide clear, real-world data about player preferences and help guide the future of the franchise.
