Positives w/ the New (and Old) Appearance Options

To start with praise, the 3D modelling of the player characters have always been quite nice, the legs in motion/bent especially so. Thank you kindly and huge props to the modeler(s) behind that.

Regarding the new PC textures that came in the Season 2 Update, I think they will honestly grow on me. They can look a little ghoulish in shadows, admittedly, though I'm unsure if that's due to my hardware or not, but they look their best in sunlight, I believe.

The ever-present red sclera as well... I'm sure skaters do "partake", but they glow red even in pitch black darkness (I found in the Halloween community parks).

For the faces, which I believe a lot of people have noted, look comparably grim to the previous two iterations, and I think it's because of the new nose textures! It's possible that the large amount of detail in the noses look nice close-up but tend to look like a dark blotch further away, which is usually how we see them.

Thankfully, I found my character looked more balanced after simply removing the lip color I had on previously, which I'm pleasantly surprised had so many style options in the first place, though they're somewhat lacking in color options, which is a bit of a pattern (at least for now).

If I were to request something, might I humbly ask for the return of the circular/oval eyebrows as maybe an additional option (as opposed to just re-replacing the new short ones)? I'm sure they were changed to fit the more realistic style, but I thought those little brows were so stylish.

The new faces do look quite nice! I realized that I liked both styles, but the new one's are very pretty up close. I suppose my computer absolutely butchers them in-game, though the appearance menu does have boutique lighting comparatively (seen with the presence of the forehead shadow).

Admittedly, the second pic is taken in low light, and I prioritize FPS over quality when just skating around, but the third, in-light pic looks very nice.

Now I'm convinced it's the conjunctivitis ruining the color theory in low light in my particular case, though considering it's not present in our fellow replier's screenshots, I fear it's a hardware issue on my part. I know AMD cards (as I have) can show some differences to Nvidia cards (such as purple glass in some games, as I've experienced), but I'm not versed at all in hardware technicality, so it could definitely be a variety of other limiting factors.

I think the new faces look much, much better: the completely clean, complexion free models of yore looked like Sims characters. They looked like they were made of play dough, which is completely unrealistic. Even now, there is work to be done to get these faces looking more realistic and less like cartoons. But, at least we’re heading in the right direction.

What the devs should do instead is implement a slider system for colouration around eyes, cheeks, ears, etc. That way, you can create fresh faced characters without forcing everyone else to do likewise.

  • I couldn't help but notice how close of a resemblance our characters have. And yes, these new visual changes have drastically changed our characters look for the worst. Take mine for example...

I am hoping that they can reverse the changes asap
