Pumping on ramps and doing tricks on them are slowing my speed

For some reason, whenever I pump using the triggers or do a trick on quarter pipes or really any ramp, it slows my speed down like crazy and gives me controller vibration. It feels like there is a patch of grass or something that slows you down but it is really annoying to skate almost any ramp in this game because of it. No clue why this happens but it doesn't just happen to me.
