Skate. Mobile. Problems solution.
Proposal: Making skate. Great on Android and iOS
To the EA skate. Development Team
Hello EA Development Team!
I'm a fan of the Skate series, and I have some suggestions that could help make skate. successful on Android and iOS while preserving the freedom, physics, and creativity that make the series special.
I understand that bringing a large 3D skateboarding game to mobile devices presents technical challenges. Here are seven ideas that I hope your team will consider.
1. Improve skateboarding physics performance
The physics system is an important part of skate.'s identity. Instead of simplifying the player's skateboarding experience, optimize calculations for distant objects and background activity while preserving detailed physics for the player's skateboard, collisions, grinds, and landings.
Goal: Maintain the feel of skateboarding while improving performance.
2. Optimize the open world
Use dynamic resolution, level-of-detail systems, texture streaming, and efficient loading of city areas. Nearby skate spots could retain high detail while distant buildings use simpler models.
Goal: Keep the world immersive without overwhelming mobile hardware.
3. Introduce better touchscreen controls
Please consider studying the mobile controls in the Roblox game Skate Tree for inspiration.
Possible options include customizable touch buttons, swipe gestures, adjustable sensitivity, and an optional beginner-friendly control preset. Experienced players should also have access to more precise controls inspired by the original Flick-It system.
Goal: Make complex tricks comfortable on a touchscreen without losing the game's depth.
4. Reduce overheating and battery consumption
Offer low, medium, and high graphics presets, adjustable frame-rate limits, resolution scaling, and power-saving options. Test performance during longer playing sessions.
Goal: Make mobile skating more stable and comfortable.
5. Improve online performance
Optimize network traffic and synchronization between players. Use suitable movement interpolation and provide clear connection-status messages when internet quality drops.
Goal: Make multiplayer feel responsive on a wider range of connections.
6. Support more Android devices
Create minimum, recommended, and high-performance device profiles. Automatically select suitable graphics settings and allow players to adjust them.
Goal: Make the game accessible to more players without promising performance that a device cannot deliver.
7. Test with real mobile players
Conduct mobile testing across budget, mid-range, and flagship phones. Gather optional performance reports and feedback about controls, battery usage, overheating, crashes, and trick responsiveness.
Goal: Identify and fix problems before a wider release.
My main recommendation
If I had to prioritize three things, I would choose:
1. Touchscreen controls inspired by successful mobile skateboarding games, including Skate Tree.
2. Strong optimization for different mobile devices.
3. Preserving skateboarding physics while reducing unnecessary processing.
I believe these improvements could help make skate. enjoyable on mobile without sacrificing what makes the Skate series unique.
Thank you for your time and for continuing to develop the game. I hope you'll consider these suggestions for the Android and iOS versions.
