The look and heart of the game
Although I haven’t played this skate beta for too long I have noticed that the design is very different from all the other skate games. I do respect the different strategy that they’re going for. I just think that they should go back to the skate trailer look instead. Looking back at the skate trailer, it seemed like they had more customization options and offered the old look, but in a new style and more polished look. I feel like this would be something good for them to go back to seeing how the community is very mixed about the new look. On top of the new look, I feel like the heart of the game isn’t quite there like all the other games. Think to yourself are all of the characters in this new game very memorable or even likable? Now think back to the older games. You can at least name one person that you really liked. I just don’t quite see any of the characters being something memorable or something that someone would look back on in 10 years down the line. EA is going for a long-term game and that shows with the loot box system that they have going on that you can earn on your own but is something that you have to grind for if you want a specific thing. I feel like it takes the game in a wrong direction and I feel like they’re missing the whole entire reason why all the older skate games were so good and why people still play them to this day. going back on the customization and the new look. If they do end up, keeping this new look all I can hope for is that they add very good customization for your characters. If you don’t have good customization, then you’re going to get characters that just look the same as everyone else’s. There’s no personality to your character at all. Another thing about these loot boxes is that I often see people wearing the same exact outfit as what I’m wearing, even though I tried my best to make it very personalized. I feel like this is because you’re so limited to what your character looks like so early in the game or maybe even late game. But altogether, I do think that the game is very good and it has potential. I just feel like it needs to market more towards the community and what the community wants more than what they feel like might make the most money in a short amount of time. One suggestion I feel like might really make the community closer together is maybe make custom maps that people in the community can make. This could lead to people re-creating super ultra mega park with the new games graphics and looks. But I’m really excited to see what this game can become. I understand that it’s still very early development but I hope that EA actually does listen to the community. These are my thoughts and they might seem biased to some people which that’s fair but I just hope for a skate game that can last a while, and it has the same heart and feeling of some of the older games for new generations to experience.
