I longboard in light rain and drizzle, I splash through puddles even (and my bearings are 5+ years old lmao). but actual skateboarding in rain is a whole different thing that will ruin a lot of peoples "immersion".. Me personally - I want rain, to want to skate under those overpasses or the DLC park and see water spilling from the edges up high. -- there's potential for vibes. There's quite a decent amount of overpass and tunnel spots in the game already (and they could add more - I would like to see proper interior parks in the san van map).
My solution is like with any feature that anyone has a possiblity to complain about is:
make it toggable - thats it
For the player who disabled rain it would get cloudy and a bit stormy, but they never see a single drop of rain, it's just overcast. For the person who enabled rain - they see the rain fully, and I think it would be cool if powerslides became nearly frictionless (this aspect can be toggled as well). Grinds are already practically frictionless in this game, but if they bump up the realism for base game then it would make grinds frictionless as well.
You get 2 manual reverts max at slow-moderate speed, having rain show up or being able to use wax or buckets of water indoors -- like a cool in-world digetic way to make powerslides and reverts have less friction would be super cool
Here's a video that shows long powerslides in the rain:
