when starting a challenge, it can get stuck saying "waiting for players to join"

ive only played solo so im not sure why this is happening but it completely locks the game when it does, forcing me to Alt+F4, pretty annoying. happens maybe 60% of the time I start a challenge. would love to know if theres a fix i can do, but its probably something the dev team needs to address
