Why is “flick” the ONLY option?

As stated. The “flick” thing is really dumb. I’ve been skating since 1999 and in no way is it similar to the way you move your feet or body. I get it, it’s different. But it’s a gimmick, it  sucks, and for the vast majority of potential players is a MASSIVE turn off. There are posts as old as the original with back-door ways to use a keyboard for PC players. Why is there not a controller button scheme in 2025? It’s almost like there has been a perfectly fine skateboard controller scheme longer than the “skate.” franchise has existed. . .

Just play THPS if you can’t get to grips with the controls.

  • There is a keyboard and mouse input option, but they aren't public about it yet, there's some youtube videos for it.

But yes, no one wants this to be THPS lmao.

Hard disagree. You should try the Tony Hawk remasters instead because the stick controls are core to this game

The flick it controls is one of the best things about this game. I tried playing the new THPS and quit immediately with it's goofy old fashioned control scheme.

Its a 'Skate' game. Every skate game has these controls. If you want somthing different, then Tony Hawks is still avaliable to buy.

I think the flick-it controls were a great innovation after THPS, but you're absolutely right that it's still kind of a gimmick. It isn't any more realistic than just pressing buttons THPS style, it just feels smoother.

My favourite skateboard controls are in Skate XL and Session.

Left stick = left foot, Right stick = right foot

That being said, if Skate used old fashioned button-pressing it would SUCK.

    A gimmick? Really?

The entire franchise STARTED the Flick-it system... And all 3 previous games were specifically designed as CONSOLE games... MEANT to be played with a CONTROLLER...

PC players need to understand that this game was never designed to be played with KBM...

I don't think that should be a "MASSIVE turn off for the vast majority of potential players"...

Just use a controller, like the game was intended to be played... Why is that such a big deal???
