Wonky Controls
I've been playing for two days now, no missions or challenges after the tutorial, just pushing around and skating. First I'd like to say the flip tricks look great! Also think the reverts, power slides, and pivots look great too! love the feature where you can pop out of a grind over the ledge and the option to convert it into another grind or manual. I'm sure a ton of people disagree with this one, but i appreciate taking away the ability to scrap with pedestrians, seemed corny in skate 3. I also like the way the session marker works, especially the ability to undo your teleport by tapping twice.
Really missing the feeling of skate 3 though, everything was way more responsive.
Here's what i don't like:
- delayed feeling to the controls
- transition (ramp) skating feels very unpredictable
- pumping feature is not intuitive at all
- hand-on-coping tricks used to be way more dynamic; looks to be just fs and bs eggs for now?
- extremely difficult to do lip tricks or grinds on coping
- in skate 3 you could ride onto the coping to grind, pop a small ollie or flip trick onto the coping, or even power slide into the coping to get a grind going
- no complys are mandatory 180s?
- inward heels and hardflips take quite a bit more flick finesse to pull off
- pedestrians cant get in the way? (not to sound like a hypocrite)
- overall, speed control seems wonky, always jumping way over stuff with like 2 pushes
- power sides at low speeds feel stubborn and sluggish
All this said, I love skate and am hopeful that the final product will be as i hoped after 15 years of skate 3. Hope this helps even just a little. Love you, bye.
