Solved

100% CPU usage

At the beginning of every match, or every loaded match i get what appears to be high cpu usage 98-100% which is proceeded by massive lag for about 30 seconds- 2minutes. After that everything is fine. Its almost like the level is still trying to load even though my game files are on an SSD drive. Game plays at 65-75 fps for me when it isn't lagging.

Does anyone else have this issue? And is there a fix for it?

I have an intel i5 3570k and AMD rx 580.

  • UPDATE:

I SEEM TO HAVE FIXED IT!

According to the other thread i linked, one solution indeed was to turn on a frame limiter. However lag was still present, albeit largely diminished.

    But you know what?

Turning OFF VSYNC fixed it ENTIRELY. Now i join every match w/o much lag (small hiccup in a few places) or 100% CPU usage. I didn't think it was my hardware.

My CPU is OC at 4.5 ghz. Its not the problem.

GAME with the Custom settings runs at 120-145 FPS w/ that CPU in games now (right from the start). Though VSYNC is turned off. IF i get screen tearing, ill just turn the framelimiter back on.

You might want to post this as a solution somewhere in the troubleshooters section so other people can find it. VSYNC was the culprit. At least for in game settings.

I will continue to post if i run into anymore problems.

    Thanks for your time.

    Hi @Gyrthrek,

I did respond the other week on this 🙂 On the thread, you linked.

Hey, @SteveZee Your CPU is below the minimum spec we have to recommendations on the system requirements. What I do recommend is that you try turning off all programs you have running the background and see if the makes difference for you

  • I have no other programs running other than the EA origin client. Ill try to close out some other non related programs, but from what i can see, the only program that takes up 100% of the CPU is BF2.

Every game i own that says i need a CPU higher than what ive got runs w/o issue and the CPU is NEVER the problem.

And as i said, it happens for about 30 seconds to 2 minutes, then its totally gone and everything runs very smoothly. I dont quite see what the game would be doing other than possibly streaming. Is there a way to turn streaming off or to force loading some other route?
