AI Not Using Melee Offline & No AI First Order Jump Troopers

What is your issue related to? General
Summarize your bug AI not using melee at all Offline in "Supremacy" and "Co-Op Missions Attack/Defend" Also there is no AI First Order Jump Troopers Offline.

How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)

What time did you see the bug? (HH:MM AM/PM) 3:00AM
In what game mode did the bug occur? Arcade Mode
What is your time zone? PST - GMT - 8:00
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Play Offline "Supremacy" and "Co-Op Missions Attack/Defend"
What happens when the bug occurs? The AI will never ever melee you ever, no matter how close you get to their face. Also the enemy AI First Order never selects the jump trooper.
What do you expect to see? For the AI to melee. For enemy AI First Order to selects the jump trooper just like other factions do.

Not having the AI use their melee Offline takes a huge element of realism away.  Not to mention it is the coolest aspect of the Commando Droid.  Without melee he never uses his vibro blades.

Also the First Order AI is incomplete without their jump troopers.

    I completely agree. These are major issues that desperately need to be fixed before support ceases. AI Troopers, Special Units and blaster wielding Heroes not performing melee attacks is a huge detriment to the immersion and combat authenticity. It was a fantastic addition to the AI's functionality, and needs to be re-implemented.

    Likewise, AI First Order Jet Troopers was another outstanding addition that inexplicably disappeared after one of the recent updates. We need them in Co-Op Missions and all Instant Action modes again!

    On a side note, these are also major problems on the PC version, and need to be fixed for that platform, too.

  • They need to reimplement these. The melee just needed to be tweaked so they get staggered and aren’t boxing champs who just beat you to death. Something like the Arcade AI melee seems to work fine. They could practically copy it.

  • @BTL-A4_Ace Must disagree respectfully. AI melee in its previous state was absolutely horrific and ruined both coop and IA. It was constant, buggy (melee and shooting interchangeable), highly damaging and caused stagger/interrupts, specifically against saber heroes. Caused hundreds of complaints. If reintroduced it must be more random and not cause stagger, then would be great feature. Alternatively could add a melee on/off option in IA for those who want it.

    @sophieploy163Ideally, I'd like for AI melee to be adjusted before being re-implemented, but not having it at all is a bigger problem.

    To say it was absolutely horrific and ruined both coop and IA in it's previous state is a gross exaggeration. Yes, it had a few issues that needed to be addressed, but it was still a lot of fun and brought a lot to the gameplay.

    In addition to the offline modes like Instant Action, AI are not using melee in online modes such as Multiplayer Supremacy and Co-Op Missions.

    Likewise, First Order Jet Troopers are also not appearing in online Co-Op Missions.

  • @BTL-A4_Ace It is not a gross exaggeration in my opinion. Every saber swing and player melee strike was interrupted due to melee spam causing stagger. Wookie Warriors and others could use melee and overload interchangeably. Commando droids could be killed by assault before finishing blade strikes because their melee spam staggered and more damaging. Heroes got stuck in abilities due to being meleed over and over (e.g. All out push). It was first reaction of AI when close and you could hold block in front of them and would see them stuck in an endless broken melee loop.

    They removed it for a reason; because of literally hundreds of complaints across the community channels. It was without doubt the most talked about issue of coop and IA, at least on reddit. My guess is they couldn't adapt it in time so was removed rather than kept in.

    I really do sympathise with those who enjoyed it and that's why I said they need to include it as option in IA for those who want it. Again if they could stop it causing stagger and being spammed, or restrict melee to only some AI, I'd welcome it back for sure.

    @sophieploy163I don't know how, but it sounds like your experience with the AI melee was quite different from mine. I frequently play Co-Op Missions and Instant Action on Expert, and hadn't encountered most of the issues you describe. The ones I did weren't so constant or severe so as to ruin the experience.

  • Tuesday July 28th, 2020 and still this has not been addressed.

    #1 Devs do you realize that this means Commando Droids will not use their vibro blades?

    #2 Devs do you realize that this means the ISB Agent will not use their martial arts move?

    #3 No offline First Order Jump Troopers

    #4 No AI melee period

    This game was left broken.

    Please do something.
