Battle Points (BP) and Experience Points (XP) are not always equal, depending on whether you are selecting in-era heroes vs. out-of-era heroes. I can never remember which way it goes though. I believe the in-era heroes are cheaper in terms of BP cost, and therefore gain BP at a lower rate, although the XP you get towards leveling is the same, regardless of era.
Exactly what you said @grimmace2 Correct era 2000 BP wrong era 3000 BP. You get XP at the same rate.
I wondered if this was the case, but I could not see any rule that would fit what I observed (ie. some scalar factor multiple applied to battle points for certain heroes).
If the difference is meant to be apparent by BP cost - then that is definitely not what I observed look at the Poe vs Yoda example that I showed. Both cost 3000 BP. Poe generated at equal rate, Yoda did not.
