Battlefront 2 won't work - issue persists for years

Changing hardware and reinstalling can have some interesting effects. We often spend time tweaking for games and forget about it until we have to reinstall and play again - with new HW/SW potentially causing issues.

You may be on to something with that HDR comment. I had to disable HDR in the game settings, because my screen would black out periodically.

Don't forget to disable DX12 after you reinstall.

You may have some keyboard/mouse software getting in your way. Additionally, you should make sure your mouse is hooked directly up to your PC (not a KVM, etc.) for troubleshooting.

There are other posts (like this one) in this forum regarding your issue. I suggest searching.

I managed to launch a game and man... there are bugs on bugs. FPS's are like rollercoaster. Going up and down. HUD, menu, characters shattered. Lags all over the place. Can't do anything in game. After around 30 seconds game just closed.

Search this forum and you will see loads of posts regarding issues with DX12. Best to leave it off.

There is clearly something going on with your setup. Resolve that and you won't see all those other issues. 

Probably a good idea to attach a DXDIAG report, so we can see what we're dealing with.

I think I got it. It's called rather different in my language (I really wish I had control over what language I want to use in the game).

Thanks for posting the DXDIAG report. It helps.

If you look at the Diagnostics section at the bottom, you will see multiple issues, some suggesting you might want to test your memory. I suggest you resolve those issues.

This would be odd if that would be faulty RAM as I had this issue on different HW.

Do you mean RADAR_PRE_LEAK_64 error? Microsoft forums search indicates that "Radar_Pre_Leak is technical nomenclature that means the OS has detected (Radar) a process that is not handling it routines in a manner that it thinks is efficient (Pre) and as a result it may begin to exhaust memory resources (Leak), i.e. it is a resource hog. It is entirely informational event, though, and does not mean it is necessarily running outside its bounds or has exhausted the limits of Windows memory management." and "these warnings are not something we need to consider, they are probably false positives. We have observed no similar issues in this regard"

I wanted to try something yesterday and I removed all the files from Documents\STAR WARS Battlefront II\settings folder. It actually did wonders. Of course, it removed the graphic settings and I had to change them back again, such as disable DX12 and turn off HDR etc. but the mouse was working perfectly fine, the game loaded and everything was working really fine.

For once. I played the game again in an hour and it was back to the beginning - everything buggy. So I removed those files again, but it didn't work.

I think that would be some lead for you?

RADAR_PRE_LEAK_64 means there is a potential memory issue - could be minor, could be major. The cause may be bad code, applications trying to use corrupt or misconfigured memory (e.g. in BIOS), etc.. You have multiple applications showing the error, so it's something to look into.

You have other issues showing in the Diagnostics section that may be contributing to your issues - i.e. memory may not be the root of your issues.

Your most recent post reminds me...

Reinstall your graphics driver with the "clean installation" option, if you did not use this the first time you installed them. While I'm not convinced this is your issue, it's easy to do, so worth a shot.

BTW - The game will take longer to load the first time you run it after reinstalling.

Did you look at the other posts in this forum - e.g. you tried turning all overlays off? As I said, multiple posts to look at...
