Controller issue: buttons on joystick recognised as XBOX controller buttons

 am all of  a sudden having issues with my MS Sidewinder controller, I push forward on the controller, character moves backwards, push down on the controller, and the character moves forwards.. it worked fine when I first purchased the game, now its FUBAR.. I was born with only 2 fingers and a thumb on my lerft hand, so controller support is a must, I also use Joy2Key... seems everything EA touches goes belly up, just like all the studios they buy out..
