"You need a new application to open the link com.epicgames.launcher"

I'm having trouble with Star Wars Battlefront 2. When I try to launch the game, I get the message "You need a new application to open the link com.epicgames.launcher." I've already tried clearing the EA app cache, reinstalling the EA app, reinstalling the game, and even installing it on another computer, but I keep getting the same message. I played it a few times on the Origin launcher and it worked fine. The problems started after they implemented the EA app.

Does anyone know of a solution or can anyone help me?

    I'm not quite following. EA switched to EA app 3 years ago. You're saying you haven't played the game for 3 years?

    No, just for a few months but before I also played it in the EA app and now says that message

    If you bought from EA before and are trying to play on Epic now, you'll likely need your account untangled. See this.

    Still having the account linked from epic games to EA app, I still get the same message, but now that I've installed the Epic Games launcher opens the epic games launcher.

    Also in the Epic Games, it shows to me that I haven't bought the game yet.

    Does that have anything to do with it?

    If you bought it from Epic, yes. You will need to contact their support.
