Darth Vader Skill Bug

Ok so here is the link to youtube video I just uploaded - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuZPGhOQsGw&t=3s

11:44 he didn't grab man in skill range, why? He should do it.

Any answers?

  • Not a bug. The Rebel was dodging. You can avoid most force powers by dodging. This is why you'll see good players dodge a lot.

  • @DarthFDG Not true. I use vader all the time. There are times I am behind the guy standing there shooting and i try to grab and get no response. the guy doesn't dodge or move. It acts like I didn't even attempt to grab him while he is in the target zone. Plus there are there new 1 damage point grab that only trips them up. Freaking Ridiculous!

Luke and Anikan have issues with there explosive moves. When Anikin hangs on heroic might dash is locked and damage buffer is lost. Same goes for his passionate strike.

Luke's force moves repulse and push sometimes don't respond at all giving the opponent ample strikes opportunities.

@DarthFDG is right. In the case presented in the footage, the explanation is exactly as was described by @DarthFDG , but that doesn't mean Vader's Choke is free of BUGs. What you are describing are the BUGs that affect it, which happen more often then we would like. I play Vader oftenly and I know very well the 2 issues you're pointing here. But in the footage provided, the enemy is indeed managing to avoid choke by dodging, which is doable (albeit hard).

The 'quick choke' BUG had a previous iteration which was caused by holding the button instead of only pressing it, and also reportedly by using it while moving, you can check the report about that here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/Darth-Vaders-Force-Choke-cancels-itself-after-a-second/td-p/7609353 . I'm not sure if holding the button still triggers that, but using choke while moving I believe is fixed (I'll test it properly next time I play the game).

The new 'quick choke' BUG has been happening since late 2019, you can check a report on it here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/Darth-Vader-s-choke-is-completely-broken/m-p/8351880#M25605 . EA/DICE hasn't said a word about it, and it plagues the game to this day. The community call it a BUG to balance Vader, and I find it fitting (although I'd rather have it fixed).

The issue with properly affecting enemies in range is actually a Day 1 BUG never solved which affects many different abilities. The ones you mention about Luke fall in this category.

About Ani's Heroic Might, that's an issue which I believe also started in late 2019 but I'm not sure, and again EA/DICE hasn't mentioned a word about it (and this one has been reported relentlessly). The one you mention about Passionate Strike I failed to understand what exactly happens. So many BUGs and glitches affect Passionate Strike or are caused by it, past and present, that I'm unsure which one you're referring to.

Nonetheless, Vader's choke can be dodged, and the footage provided in the OP shows exactly that.
