EA can’t “double down” on Star Wars without BF3

EA announced that they are “doubling down” on Star Wars games. I don’t see how they can do that without releasing another game in Star Wars’ best franchise Battlefront.

  • Aren't they also working on a sequel to Jedi Fallen Order? Not even sure what doubling down means in this context.

Yes. I believe it is getting a sequel. And with Squadrons they took the least popular BF game mode and gave it its’ own game. What’s next a full game of JetPack Cargo? Come’ on EA there’s a market for BF3. Do it.

They don't deserve the licence to another Battlefront game. They've proven that they don't care for the games, the franchise, or the players.

They already own it until 2023 I believe. So if they are going to try to make the most of that license then that plan should include another Battlefront.

  • @BDawkin20 hi if EA are going to make another battlefronts 3 i want to see respawn try make it with all the assets from 2 and they add more dlc for free like Ashoka and more with the graphics of unreal engine 5 i would love this
  • @BDawkin20For f*cks sake, we don't need another Battlefront game fed to us. Like seriously, do you guys want to make it even easier for EA to rip us off?

BF II is absolutely fine, the only tragedy here is that EA couldn't come up with any better plan (like, a concept to keep the game monetized?) than prohibiting the devs to keep working on it.

Instead, all we need is continued support for this game, as it clearly has potential to get even more content included.

Working on a new BF game while BF II is in it's best state since ever (for most parts) helps whom exactly?

If this key problem will be the same for a BF III or whatever new SW multiplayer game, we'll just find ourselves in few years exactly where we are now, just with a different game that had to be abandoned in the middle as well.

Also it was stated that EA doesn't have any plans for a future BF game or am I not up to date anymore? Instead they're working on that squadron game.

  • Squadrons is already announced. EA’s statement on “doubling down” was based on future Star Wars games. Why wouldn’t you want more BF content? They ended service on this game and there’s not going to be any continued support ...thus BF3 needs to be part of this increase in Star Wars games.

  • @BDawkin20 Their Star Wars contract expires in 2023 I believe, but they might have first dibs on renewing it (to quote EA: We have a very good relationship with Disney. We have a very good relationship with Lucas...). If this is true, I’d be extremely happy to play any game they make. Battlefront 3 would be perfection, as they have many games to learn from their mistakes by now. I hopped onto Battlefront 2 for the first time since the final patch in May, and I encountered no bugs, I encountered a tiny bit of lag which is my own Wifi‘s fault, and I encountered a fun afternoon spending time on one of my favourite games. This is the vision EA is talking about. And this is the vision I hope lives on in Squadrons, and stays with us in Battlefront 3.
