I have found that I need to change the ping site every time after returning to menu. Everytime I return to the menu my ping site resets to my default ping site unfortunately my default ping site will only produce error 1066 or empty dead lobbies. However I find that launching a search then changing to my second closest ping and sitting in the EA accounts screen tends to work 80% of the time. Hope this helps until the fix.
I will try this when I get home. However, I do also have the problem of the ping site just randomly changing that many people have reported. When I play a match and return to menu, it rarely resets to my preferred ping site but is something like United Arab Eremites or Japan.
Yeah it used to do that to me as well until I started doing this. Saying that, it gets tedious, it's been a good few days since I even bothered to try and play the game. Hope it works for you until the inevitable getting sick of having to do it.
Fingers crossed that it works tonight after I get home... And hopefully the hotfix will just eliminate the need altogether. Thanks.

Changing servers does not work anymore. Only to a very very limited extent. I have 99% failurerate menawhile.
This shows up 100% of the time. Always empty Servers. On top of that no one else can spawn in other as when they are joining as friend.
This must be fixed TOP PRIORITY.
I have many friends EU/US. All have the same problem. I have also seen this on Twitch.

Only way for me to play right now is joining in to players that for some reason manage to get into a crowded lobby.@-DW-GarthRevan I'd say this is definitely a priority and probably why it was mentioned by F8rge so quickly after the update as per the link in one of my posts above. There is no one I play the game with who is not experiencing these problems after the last update and considering how many people on AHQ are experiencing the same issues I'd say its a definite game breaker. I can believe that you're getting that sort of failure rate by now, I haven't bothered in about 4days now but when I did its as if the problem was becoming progressively worse. After the update it worked fine, if I recall correctly for a day or so. Then I believe it was the Friday after the update that my issues began. I was able to play then with the work arounds but it's almost as if the work arounds gradually started working less and less frequently until I thought you know what f**k this s**t it's too long. I really hope they fix this quickly.
Can confirm that changing ping sites doesn't work anymore. I tried Tino's suggestion last night and it did not work, sadly. I was able to finally get into a game of Galactic Assault on the Ohio server after almost 45 minutes of trying... But after that, it was back to empty lobbies.
I am frequently in games where people start leaving, and it never fills up again. If I wait, I am eventually the only one in the room. Something doesn't work right in their system when it comes to prioritizing whether to start new rooms or fill existing ones. I really wish the matchmaking system had a merging feature...so if there are too many half-empty rooms, it would combine the players into one game. In Hero Starfighters, it is game-killing to have to wait and wait and wait every time the teams get unbalanced. I don't think the system handles this properly when it comes to matching new players into games.
