Game doesn't launch... at all

Recently I tried downloading the "Skin selection mod" for Battlefront II. I know you guys are gonna say "well, you tried to mod the game so it's your fault" but hear me out on this one. I tried using it and the game did not launch at all. It didn't appear in Task Manager, it didn't appear as if anything had happened at all. So I uninstalled the mod and tried to play the regular game. No luck. When I go to Origin the "Play" button is grayed out, as if I'm already in game. The "Update Game", "Repair", and "Game Properties" are grayed out as well. The only thing I can do is add and remove the game from my favorites. I have since completely reinstalled Origin and the game itself to no avail. It still doesn't appear in Task Manager. I was able to get it running once by some fluke of luck right after I reinstalled it but now I'm right back to square 1. It upsets me because I put 70 hours into this game and was about lvl. 35 on my Officer and now I can't play anymore.

  • What I did was I completely uninstalled BF2 and then uninstalled Origin; apparently there were some folders or something that didn't get deleted the first time. After reinstalling both of them it finally started working again.

@Shadowbolt1130 what are your PC specs to include OS? Do you receive any error messages or error codes?

@ScottKrafft-YT- Were you able to uninstall SWBF2? If not I recommend to try revo uninstaller (there's a free version) to uninstall SWBF2, then reinstall once you get Origin reinstalled then see if you can play without the mod.  I also recommend to run a full anti-virus scan and run a malware scan with something like spybot search and destroy or malwarebytes anti-malware since the behavior you describe is not normal and begun only after you installed a third party mod.

I installed (and uninstalled) the mod using Frosty Mod Manager, and have since deleted everything mod-related and reinstalled Battlefront once and Origin several times. I have also called EA Support and they couldn't figure out what it was. I'm a pretty computer-savvy guy but I'm stumped by this one. I have deduced the problem to these exact steps: I startup Origin and hit Play. Nothing happens. No process in Task Manager, no sign that anything is happening. The Windows loading cursor shows up for a few seconds, then goes away. Origin then acts as if I'm in game; logging hours to my total count despite the game not actually running. The "Play" button becomes unclickable. When I go to exit Origin it says "It is recommended that you quit Star Wars Battlefront II before exiting Origin. Do you want to exit anyway?" Once it starts back up again, I can hit Play again, but the same steps happen. I scanned my computer and it was all good; note that this is the only bad thing that's happened.

I should also say that my processor is below the minimum requirements for the game; did they release a patch or something that locks players whose PC's are below the minimum requirements out of the game?  It worked fine before; enough for me to play 68 hours. I was lagging heavy at first but I turned down the graphics to Medium and it ran very smoothly. No other abnormal behavior occurred between this and the day it stopped working. I'm going to completely remove all of BFII and all of Origin (making sure everything is deleted properly) then reinstalling Origin and BFII in that order and see what happens.

The fix for me was going to services(windows services manager) and stop and disable origin client serivce and origin web helper service and also restart your computer! Try it!

I've uninstalled and reinstalled both Origin and SWBFII multiple times, no luck. Hopefully someone else will find this thread useful, though!
