Solved

Game won't stay open. Screen fades to black. Game minimizes itself.

I've had the game for about a week now and I have been unable to play it. My issue is that when I launch the game, if I click on anything, the screen fades to black for a few seconds and then returns to the game. It is the same thing as if you have a game open, and then you click on the background of your desktop and then the game minimizes itself. However with this, it just comes back. It is as if the computer doesn't recognize that the game is launched, yet I am able to navigate the menus (somewhat). If I try to click on another tab, customize a character, select a match, or click on anything, the screen will disappear. I tried to plug in my XBOX controller to see if it would work. Exact same issue. Press A to select a menu, screen goes away. So I tried to just go through it and maybe it would work in an actual game. No it doesn't. Start playing, see an enemy, click to shoot and screen goes away and I die, then try to re-spawn and screen goes away. Sometimes when I'm in a match the keyboard won't work.  People have recommended turning off Origin Overlay. Did that and it still doesn't work. Others recommend turning off Discord Overlay. Did it an it still doesn't work. What is causing this issue, or can I just never play this game?

    Thanks for the info.

I tried a game repair on Origin yesterday hoping it would solve my problem, and low and behold, IT DID! I was able to actually get into Instant Action with no problems. I think everything in the game got fixed, so I shouldn't have any more problems with it. I hope.

    Thanks.

  • Hello, I have run into a problem with the game on PC. The game is on Origin too.

The problem is after the most recent update, the September update, my game crashes to the desktop everytime I try to start a new game of Instant Action.

    Everything else works.

    My specs

    CPU: Intel Core i7-7700 / 3.60GHz

    RAM: 16GB

GPU: AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB AORUS

OS: Windows 10 Home 64 bit OS

I don't know what the problem is.

Can I have some help with this issue?

There's a lot of factors that could be causing this but we'll go down to the basics first to see if we can narrow down the cause. If you're still having some trouble after these steps, can you attach a DxDiag for us so we can look at your full system specs? We can also see the Windows error reports at the bottom.

It's possible a program running in the background is causing the game to minimize. It could be a random program simply running or your anti-virus program blocking the game at some point from running. Make sure Origin/Star Wars Battlefront II is added to your anti-virus exceptions list.

Try a clean boot and then immediately launch Origin as administrator by right-clicking on the desktop shortcut. This is how we can rule out a program/process running in the background is causing it. If the game loads up and is fine, opening up one program at a time can help you pinpoint the culprit.

Moved your post here since it's very similar. Check out the steps above and let us know how it goes. Search "Windows Updates" in the desktop search bar to check for pending updates. If there are pending updates that can cause launching issues.
