HELP - Ultra wide monitor - Object Stretched when rotating camera

Hi all,

I've been playing BF2 for a long time (since the game was launched) and never notice the issue I'm about to describe.

I just bought a new LG odyssey G9 which is a 49in curved screen with a 5120x1440 resolution.

Now went I play BF2 I get this annoying distortion where the object grows in size as I move.

The objects at the center are small while if I rotate to move the same object it grows in size. Its quite obvious.

I try playing with the FOV and the lowest FOV gives the best results but it is still present while with a larger FOV it make the problem bigger.

Look at the picture i have attached. They are both taken at the same physical position where the first one im looking directly at the object, while the other i have rotated the camera.

In the second picture the object is stretched out a lot.

(i have taken those with large FOV just to clearly show the issue).

Its like looking through a door peephole.

I've try with a smaller monitor I have at home and I don't see the issue.

I honestly don't know what to do to fix this issue or what to try.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • So according to my research the FOV would be what need to be changed.

This monitor have a 32:9 aspect ratio.

Since BF2 uses vertical FOV i would need to change the FOV to 32 in order to get a 90 Horizontal FOV which should technically remove this fisheye effect.

I used the follow site for the calculation:

    http://themetalmuncher.github.io/fov-calc/

The problem now is that i cannot set the FOV to anything lower than 44.

Ill try to see if there is a way to lower it from a settings file.

Can anyone at EA please help me out here??

  • i managed to find where i can change the FOV.

It seems to be stored under:
    C:\Users\xxx\Documents\STAR WARS Battlefront II\settings\ProfileOptions_profile

I modified the xxx.FieldOfView to 0.5815 which should be equivalent to 32 based on my calculation.

It seems like the formula is y=0.0184x-0.0073 where x is the desired vertical FOV.

However It doesn't fix my problem. I still get the fisheye effect. Which is very annoying in game.

Also i soon as i go in video, the FOV is reset to 44.

It not really playable since the distortion is quite obvious....

See new pictures attached. Its at the lowest FOV. Look at the X-Wing. its quite obvious. It doubles in size when i move my head.

Imaging playing like that... It gives a headache...

    EA HELP!

Hi, not sure if this will help ...I have a Samsung C34J79X, thunderbolt, curved screen. Not as large as your screen, running at 3440x1440 and a refresh of 100Hz!

    FOV set at 55

    HDR - auto

    Direct X12 - off

    Vert Sync - off

    Motion blur 50%

    Best Regards,
