Heroes vs Villains Balance Update

Thanks for clicking on the topic. I'd like to discuss two balance updates that seem critically necessary for Heroes vs Villains:

 

Emperor Palpatine:

 

       Emperor Palpatine's lightning attacks have been nerfed to a point where using his stun ability and a two-handed lightning attack, he is unable to defeat an opponent after the stun ends and they use a lightsaber, blaster or any special ability (which will instantly kill him instead). I believe that Emperor Palpatine's lightning attacks have been over-powering in the past but they are now embarassingly underpowered and I notice no one uses him for long during matches. Is it unfair that the Dark Side gets such a special character? Maybe, he is the uniquest one in the game. Regardless: he should be on-par with blaster wielding characters; not weaker nor stronger.

Bossk:

       Bossk currently is the most powerful character in the game. His Predator's Instinct ability lasts for too long and does too much damage. There is no way for any hero to block or avoid his micro-grenades. Each time a hero target is selected: Bossk is able to use his refreshed ability and completely kill a character with no reasonable way for them to avoid his attack. His ability allows him to have too many explosives and/or they are doing way too much damage. The only current fix is for people to honorably not even use the character, who is a useful and fun addition to the matches.

Until both of these issues are addressed Heroes vs Villains will remain broken; with the latter issue severely breaking the gameplay, practically destroying any chance at fairness. If you've ever wondered why your team shamefully lost a round within a few minutes, this is the reason.

  • Yeah I don't seem to have the problems you are experiencing against Bossk if anything Bossk needs fixing as his predator instinct fails to show heat signatures around 50% of the time(very frustrating in GA). IMO Bossk is relatively well balanced considering how easily he can be killed by both saber and blaster wielders it does not mean that you can run in on Bossk all kamikaze because between his proximity mines and predator instinct you will get blown up, you just need to be tactical about it, jump and dodge during his predator instincts to get away. There are other ways if you don't like wait for him to finish predator instinct, for example, using mind trick with Rey so that you can jump up behind him and turn him into Trandoshan skewers or using shock abilities to stop him in his tracks. Finns abilities are also sufficient even against the frustratingly talented Bossk players. If you really struggle try use all 3, infiltration to get in range quickly, big deal for the buff and then activate dead eye and see if he can dodge it or bomb his way out.
    I guess I'm just of the view that I would rather see things being fixed before being nerfed because if things are not working correctly how can you know they need a nerf.
    You mentioned Palpatine. Look at what's happened with Palpatine. They looked to fix an issue with him being able to hit the driver of the AT-AT with chain lightening, they also nerfed his chain lightening health regen slightly, the result is his chain lightening is ruined and practically unusable.
    Just FYI EA/Dice the driver of the AT-AT can also be hit with the assaults acid grenades, bossk dioxis, the specialists weird electric grenade thingy I also noticed once.
    So fix the problems first before nerfing stuff otherwise we may just end up with a load of characters that don't work properly and no one uses a bit like Palpatine atm.
  • I do agree that Palpy seems to have been nerfed too much. However, Bossk is fine, imo. He's fairly easy to defeat, unless you have a good Bossk. In which case, he's still decent to avoid unless he uses all his abilities and you get double-teamed. But that goes with any hero.
