Insanely low fps in battlefront 2

So  Im getting like 1fps in the star wars battlefront 2 campaign and game crashes playing that heroes mode. I downloaded the trial off of origin 2 days ago. The single player tutorial/ challenge mode runs perfectly but anything else is unplayable. I lowered all the settings and it makes zero difference. I have an i7 7700, geforce gtx 1070, and 8gb ram. I also have a toshiba dt01aca100 hard drive( i know its terrible) which used to run at 100% disk usage playing mankind divided on ultra but after moving things off of it and keeping it below 30% capacity its been working fine. But its been acting up pretty terribly when it comes to battlefront 2. System is able to run assassins creed origins in 2k ultra settings with a solid 60 fps. Not sure why battlefront 2 is playing so poorly

First, just try running the game in windowed mode. If that makes no difference then it is possible your machine may be defaulting to the Intel video processing on your CPU rather than your nvidia GPU.

    1. Open the nvidia Control Panel
    2. Click Manage 3D settings
    3. Click the Program Settings tab
    4. Click the Add button
    5. Select the game from the list or click browse and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\STAR WARS Battlefront II\starwarsbattlefrontii.exe
    6. Select starwarsbattlefrontii.exe and then Open
    7. Customise individual settings if you like
    8. Exit nvidia control panel and try playing.

Do let us know if this helps, thanks.

  • i don't know how you organize your pc, but i install this game yesterday, and i play all the maps so far on ultra settings with an old pc, GTX970/i7 3770/16ram/and i installed in normal hdd, and i have 70-90 fps ultra and on high settings 80-115fps, if i get this on my old pc, than ask yourself is the game or....and i don't use last update from windows 10 1083 build, i am on the old 1607, the games fly on this build, i don't think i will ever update my windows.gl  buddy

  • Thats not the problem man. This isnt the first game im playing on my gaming pc.. Did u not read what i said to the end? I have no problem running any other game on ultra settings. If i were using integrated graphics u seriously think id be able to play ac origins at 2k res with ultra settings and have a stable 60fps?  To give an update i should say that multiplayer now works perfectly fine but the campaign is still completely unplayable. Fps drops to below 5. When i check task manager while in campaign i noticed that my ram was at 98% usage and my hd was at 100%. The cpu and gpu are runnin perfectly fine. Just the hd and ram go nuts when trying to play campaign. Im getting the feeling that this is a memory leak issue. Any tips on how to fix that?

Pc is as organized as its gonna get. Ive moved every game off the hard drive besides this one as well as all other types of media, updated all the drivers, done a disk check and a fee benchmarks. Benchmarks come back saying my pc is running great. Even the hd is doing better than average for what it is. Its my understanding from reviews that this hd isnt going to last me long based off of a ton of reviews i read about it last night, and if that was the only thing being over worked i could understand. But seems my ram is running at full capacity as well. Regardless if i turn all the settings down to low. So im thinking theres some kind of memory leak thay occurs when i start up the campaign
  • look here mate, this is not in multiplayer, i made this video special for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4dUQ6kmr9U&t=1s , here the game is on ultra-high(shadows and effects), i don't know what you can change, i will do more tests, i got 2 pcs the new one has 1080/i7 8700k/16giga ram and i got the game on ssd, i run the game with vsync ON on my new pc, and the game runs the same like my old pc(GTX970,i73770 etc), i see no changes. :P

  • @rangoony i know this post is old, but if anyone else if having this problem try disabling dx12
  • @M44rcus Thank you so much. Turning off dx12 took me from 7-9fps up to 90fps+. Literally 10 times faster.
  • What @M44rcus said. I have a 3080 and was getting 20 fps with DX 12 turned on. Turned it off and I'm getting 180+ fps pretty consistently. Must be a horribly optimized DX12 game, just turn it off. Still looks great!

I'm closing this thread to stop it being necroed.

If you have any issues with SWBF2 please make a new topic about the issues you are having and what kind of steps you have tried to solve it.
