As many in the community have pointed out, the update was a great PATCH, not a SEASON. One ported map and a new game mode are nice, but is just underwhelming.
However, many players don't seem to really understand that they can probably not release a map from SOLO, since so little is officially known about the film. I think that there are some ties to releasing content before the movie. This observation is in line with the statement that a new Planet will be added in the next month.
But that isn't an excuse for the underwhelming start. If they want to advertise the movie with the game, then that isn't working for me. If they would release a planet or map before hand (small game mode map would be enough), then something new would trigger me into watching SOLO. Right now, it triggers me to rewatch some OT movies instead.
How could they have made this start better? Some thoughts
- Announce what we are going to get for next month as well.
- Release more than 1 map, and announce that.
- It is a Han Solo season. There is no better time to bring back some bounty hunters of the first game. Greedo and Nien would have been better to release than nothing.
- Actually say that nothing can be added because of restrictions to the film.

Now let's discuss the PATCH
POSITIVES
- Thanks for actually continuously adjusting the heroes. I am very happy to see some necessary buffs (Luke) and some nerfs (Palpatine). Also glad that the lightsaber combat and the dodging mechanic is always under construction. Many players seem to be unhappy with it, so adjusting is really helping.
- The new Hero Showdown is fun. Make strategic gameplay much more important.
- Implementing a 'spectator mode'. Now please proceed and add that option to the other game modes. Then players can at least seriously see if someone is hacking.
- The menu is awesome. It looks good and much more intense than what we had before.
- Ewok hunt is permanent! You did listen to feedback!
- Various necessary bug fixes.
NEGATIVES
- No official statement on the current game balance. Serious, that is the NUMBER 1 thing that should be looked into. Even randomizing the teams would be better than no team balance at all.
- Matchmaking is not working for the new Hero Showdown. If one player leaves, no backfill is happening and you are forced to quit the game. This makes playing that very frustrating.
- The new Hero Showdown is very fast. I like that, but the animation between the rounds takes way too long.
- AFK players and leaving players should be punished in Hero Showdown and HvV. They really spoil the game and should get a light punishment IMO. However, if a player leaves the match and no backfill happens, then the players that are forced to leave should not get this punishment. A punishment could be a loss of credits, or not playing that mode for a certain time.
- Arcade has a lot of potential which is completely underestimated. Please add PRIVATE MATCHES. More content via YouTube (1vs1, etc), competitive gameplay (tournaments) and allowing PC players to play with friends without having to go to multiplayer. Make it such that the current options are available in the private matches.

Please, don't ignore the community on the CONQUEST requests. Such a mode would bring many players back to the game and give the game a boost in life time. A free mode in which you can spawn where you want and conquer command posts is something that a lot of players have asked for. There is even a modder trying to make such a mode on his own.
If someone leaves the game and the servers don't fill the spot just wait it out and it will eventually end the game with the team who are in the lead winning the game(does take a while though so fully understand the rage quitting, which is by far the quicker option). Definitely needs to be some system where by players leaving are put off from doing so and are actually more inclined to finish out the game. At the same time there can be slight positives to players leaving, I was losing a game 2-0 despite having the top score, my team mate left and was thankfully replaced with someone better and we managed a turnaround to win 3-2. So I would suggest to EA/Dice that if team balancing/ decent matchmaking system is not implemented then at least get the lobby systems working properly, replacing players that leave efficiently. At the moment most games where players leave they are not replaced, leaving you with two options of either wait it out for however long it takes to end the game or quit in frustration neither of which IMO are a preferable or enjoyable option. If you like playing the game then you quit, if you want your credits you wait an age. Having said all of this it may well be funky lobby systems that have given me this impression as I have only had patience to wait it out once where the opposing team showed as still being in the game in the next lobby then quickly left, so it may well be its just the impression I have received. If not then perhaps it's EA's way of frustrating people in to spending money on crystals.
It must be said however the game has improved big time with this update, and at least the load times have improved hugely so that when something does cause a rage quit your not quite as raging because of the pleasant surprise of returning to the menu so quickly and getting into another game.
