Issue with game server account (corruption)

Issue: Can't launch SW:BF2 at all as I experienced a problem connecting to the game servers...

The issue is that my account needs to be fixed somehow in order for me to play SW:BF2 on the game servers that EA hosts.

Ok so after the notification of the game servers being down last week (or maybe the week before) I still have an issue with trying to launch Star Wars Battefront 2 from my Xbox series X....

The game was working up until 4 weeks ago.

Any game whether it's an EA game or not is working whether I'm playing this locally or from the cloud server for that particular game (for ex: MechWarrior 5, MS Flight Sim, Jedi Fallen Order, Star Wars Squadrons)

I have restarted the console and have cleared the local cache on the console  - no resoluton

I have cleared the account (removed it) and then re-initialized the account - no resolution

I have cleared the saved data within the game itself and also have done a console reset (one for keeping the games, the other for a clean wipe of any corrupted files on the console) - no resolution

I have tried to set the IP addresses in DNS to manual to see if it was the network connection (this has been working fine) - no resolution

I have also power cycled the console - no resolution

I have tried to restart and log out of the account, restarted and linked up with my account - no resolution

I have also re-installed SW:BF2 after the hard reset was completed and didn't use any older files or config - no resolution

So at this point Xbox support have confirmed with myself that this isn't a local Xbox console issue, it's an issue with my account on the game server.

When trying to talk to EA support they kept pushing me back to Xbox support or asking me about have I completed all the above steps which hasn't helped the situation in the least, I tried to ask with whom we could escalate this issue to as it's been at least 2 weeks since I reported this..... and still don't have an answer or know if anyone has picked up my issue and would be currently working on this.

I have said and agree that all I need is for someone at EA to fix my account and then have me re-start this on my console to confirm, but for some reason this can't be done.

I'm not sure when this will be fixed but if someone could contact me if they need more information then I'm happy to do this but I don't understand why this has taken as long as I think it might now have been 3-4 weeks since I reported this issue.  And both Greg S and Augustine G (Xbox support) have confirmed that the game publisher (EA) should reset or refresh my account for this to work.

The reason why I think this is accurate is that when I reset the console (hard) and then re-installed the game to the local internal drive, the game tries to sync up with my account from the cloud and it gets corrupted so that it interferes with my ability to launch the game successfully.  Therefore nothing I do at my end will resolve this, and I'm sure it's to do with my corrupted profile/account that needs to be fixed.

Anyway I hope someone will pick this up and resolve it, I don't think that EA have their support model setup very well as I would have thought that they're support people would be able to do something like this to help us gamers out quickly and also have the ability to escalate this for people who just need to either push a button or two, or even flick a switch and turn something back on again.   But maybe it's more complex than I realize as I used to be a computer support analyst.

Time will tell --- I just hope its soon otherwise I'm going to move on and not worry about playing this game at all.

    Hey @DragonLancer0,

    Thanks for the report.

Unfortunately, I am not exactly sure where this is about, but I will do my best to assist you here via the forums.

You're saying that you're experiencing an error when launching SWBF2 on Xbox, regarding a corrupted account save, is this correct?

Another thing I would like to add is that there is unfortunately no such thing as an 'EA account refresh', this does not exist. Maybe the Xbox support means that you should try to reset your EA account email address and password?

  • Hello EA Leeuw,

Ok so I tried to play the game last night 28/29-5-20.  Someone had done a redirect of the sync so I that I could play it.  The only problem is that when I tried to play it again sometime afterwards there's a question that popped up about which data do I want to connect to and unfortunately it has connected once again to the corrupted profile on the server.  I know that they did a redirect as you didn't want me to lose my progress which is great but it would have been helpful to know what if I reconnected to the game profile again that I would want to chose the "other" data option which I think was more recent?  Anyway is there anything that I can do to change which sync to use so that I can avoid this issue in the future as once you choose this, it seems you can re-direct the server to use the other sync as it uses only one and doesn't show this option again?

    Hey @DragonLancer0,

As mentioned in my previous post; there is no such thing as what you mentioned for SWBF2 and EA things. If there's something regarding a corrupted profile, it's from the Xbox itself and potentially single-player save data that is stored locally (or in the Xbox cloud backup) on your console, nothing on our servers.

The issue that you're experiencing allows me to believe that something is going wrong with your locally saved Xbox save game data of SWBF2, which is saved on the console and backed up in the Xbox cloud.

The best thing you can do for this is to request assistance from Microsoft Xbox support since they will be able to guide you on how you can safely sync your locally saved console data and override it when needed.

  • Please read carefully as you're not correct and this is why:

I have restarted the console and have cleared the local cache on the console  - no resolution

XBOX SUPPORT know it's a corrupted profile from the game server, and one of your colleagues was able to fix this and get the game working again.

But what's happened is that the Xbox reads the sync data from the game server and it gives the user an option as to which sync do you want to use - it had an older date, and a newer date.

Unfortunately I choose the wrong date and the Xbox now tries to sync with the game server that only uses the older corrupted profile still as it was working because someone at EA knew what to do as they probably created a newer profile or link to my account and I didn't loose any of my progress.  An Xbox user can't redirect their profile from the client end, it has to be from the servers end where the game is hosted.

If I had chosen the newer dated sync profile it would still be working.   So why you keep mentioning the "profile refresh" is irrelevant at this point.  It doesn't matter what it's called actually.

Can you help with this please or give it to someone at EA support that can as I can't play the game at all?  Otherwise I won't bother answering back until it can be fixed or should I move onto another game since this doesn't work for me?
