Jerky movement in BF2 XBOX One X. Game almost unplayable.

Product: Star Wars Battlefront II
Platform:Microsoft XBOX One
What is your issue related to? General
Summarize your bug Over the last two days I have noticed Battlefront 2 is almost unplayable. My player moves for about 1 second, then suddenly stops, then starts moving again. The other players and enemies on the Galactic Assault map pop in and out of their location as if there is some horrible network lag or latency. To test I quit Battlefront 2 and launched Battlefield 1 and Battlefield V which played perfectly smooth. Also ran a speed test from my XBOX One X and got the following... Ping = 12 ms Download = 79.8 Mbps Upload = 14.6 Mbps Jitter = 3 ms
What is your gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name? DirtonaFROOK
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Can you tell us the date (MM/DD/YYYY) that you saw the bug? 12-19-2018
What time did you see the bug? (HH:MM AM/PM) 10:00:00 PM
In what game mode did the bug occur? Galactic Assault
What is your time zone? EST (IET) - GMT - 5:30
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Just play Galactic Assault on a Xbox One X.
What happens when the bug occurs? The entire game session.
What do you expect to see? The game to run smoothly like it has for the past 12 months.

AMD or Nvidia Model Number XBOX

Nothing to say here.

Let us know if the game is still slow after these steps:

    1. Unplug the modem and router power for at least 3 minutes to refresh your connection to our servers.

    2. Power cycle the console: http://bit.ly/XB1_PowerCycle

    3. Clear the MAC Address: From the Xbox dashboard select Settings>All Settings>Network>Network Settings>Advanced Settings>Alternate MAC address>Clear, then restart your Xbox.

Just saw this post now, I did everything in there yesterday except the MAC address change and it didn't fix it. I'll try the MAC address thing tonight and respond back. More testing I did last night was interesting. The problem is completely isolated to Galactic Assault. Every other mode I tested played perfectly. So I hesitate to think this is a networking problem and more like some bug in the GA code only. I have a video showing how bad this is here...

You will notice the "Slow internet connection" popping up on occasion, but my connection is totally dedicated, always has been. As stated, this is the only game/section of all the 68 games I own that started doing this over the last couple of days. I see no problems with any other games (Including EA games like Battlefield V).

We are not alone. I checked with one of my sqad mates and he is having the same issue (only in Galactic Assault) on his XB1X as well. What version of Xbox do you have the problem on? I am wondering if all Xbox versions are affected.
  • Network stats screenshot (taken using cell phone since the Speedtest app on Xbox doesn't allow screenshots or recordings)...

  • (UPDATE): MAC Address clearing fixed the problem

I just played two rounds of Galactic Assault after the MAC address change and no more jitters. However the network strength icon stays constantly on the screen. At this point I could care less about that network icon. At least the game is playable again.

Thanks for the fix EA Support Team!

  • This problem has returned after the Anikin Skywalker addition. I will repeat the steps I did before and see if this fixes it again. Why is this the ONLY game out of the 100+ I own that does this!!!

It worked (Again). Not sure why, but it always seems to solve this Battlefront 2 problem.
