No reason for the level cap increase

What exactly is the point of levelling our characters past 40?

We got a level cap increase to 1000 (!), but it means essentially nothing. We can't unlock anything, nor do we get any rewards. This is another pointless number, same as our Global Level - instead of this extreme character level increase, something meaningful should have been done both to this and our Global Level, which only serves as an achievement flag after we've reached 25 or something.

There should either be prestige Star Cards (or prestige modifiers to existing Cards), or some small credit rewards.

  • @felker_s Agreed but there were hundreds of requests to raise this bar and I personally am glad they did. It shows they are listening and trying to offer what we as players want to get more out of the game.

It has brought some competitive players back in to the game. They now want to show other players their dedication of how high they can get and how much time they have spent. Personally I know a guy who just reached 200 with his interceptor. He was so excited but also has put in a ton of time to get there.

While it means nothing but bragging rights, it is helping to keep the game alive, fill the lobbies and like many other really good games the added options have brought extended life to this very cool Star Wars Universe!..

Yea, it might mean something to those players - I just hope that we'll get some added depth to it in the future.

@felker_s What sort of depth were you thinking? COD has playercards and gold/chrome weapons and Battlefield had golden dogtags- I wouldn't think locking weapons/upgrades theough extreme level progression would go over too well

Introducing some sort of playercards would not be a bad idea in BF2, now that you mention.

Or maybe some high-tier appearances for characters, with an "either-or" system - you could buy them early for a high amount of credits, but you could also earn it by reaching a certain level.

Thinking out of the box from my own self here, there are definitely ideas that you can do.

Like add a gold/carbon black coating on a gun or add small items/decals on your armour or something that makes you stand out, but we have to keep in mind that its licence product so it means it not everything up to DICE.
