Op Vader Combo

If you choke someone, you can jump attack and then throw your saber at them immediately after, you also land behind them meaning you can hit them if they don’t dash quick enough and deal bonus damage because you are hitting them from behind. This easily takes away almost half a heroes health in one choke, plus even more damage if you use Vader’s middle ability as well. You literally can’t beat a Vader in a 1v1 if they know this combo  unless you somehow manage to dodge every choke. Could this be nerfed please?

  • I think you can do like a max of 445 damage in total if you do everything perfectly, which is pretty broken.
  • Vader's choke has always been too easy to use and too useful, like it immobilizes, causes damage, clusters people together, even when it's done there's a delay before you can get up again, and it sets up combos. Throw in damage resist and it's the perfect ability if you land it and the light side has no comparable ability. There are light side abilities you can chain together pretty well so I think the best buff would be to take the damage resistance while choking waaay down and/or make so that it can't be used while he's getting hit by a lightsaber. That way in 1v1 you can actually attack without opening yourself up and makes it a lot less useful against groups which I've always found more frustrating anyway

  • @Bagginses2Jump attack? I think this stuff is not even needed if you just use saber throw and dodge towards the opponent while he's still being choked and then attack him normally.

The prolonged choke duration card really helps here a lot and optimally you can land like 2 hits already while he's in the air + the additional hit(s) while he's getting up.

The thing when going against Vader is to play with the opponents patience, similar like when going against Dooku.

Most of the time you can manage to bait them to use the ability prematurely, for Vader's middle ability as well as for Dooku's middle + right ability just wait until the effect wears off.

That being said, duels against a Darth Tank in Hero Showdown for example are often just straight boring and repetitive, even if I use Kenobi which assures me that Vader can't use his choke for a while. In HvH I often don't even bother to 1 vs 1 a Vader if possible because it'd take too long and puts me at the risk of getting flanked.

Instead I try to stick with my team, outnumber the rest of Vader's team and then look to fight him with united forces.

I often then just serve as a bodyguard for Han/Leia to put him under pressure and halt his advance.

  • @TRlALON You can’t hit the person your choking until they hit the ground unless you jump attack, they can also dodge almost as soon as they hit the ground and only get hit like one time. Doing this combo means you get the damage from the jump attack + 50% saber throw damage + attacking them whilst they get up from the ground (there’s also bonus damage from hitting them from behind), there are several star cards which can make this combo deal more damage as well. Yeah 1v1s with Vader are pretty cancer, he has insane stamina, damage and health, he also for some reason gets up almost instantly from rag dolls a lot of the time, kind of makes me ashamed to be a Vader main but he’s just my favourite character in Star Wars, I hope we get more Vader nerfs like the lightsaber throw + choke combo.

They have done sooooo many nerfs to vader yet people still find ways to make him OP. I can't stand this community or ownership of the franchise

@Bagginses2Of course you can hit them while they are still in the air, you see it when it messes up your camera.

The delay until you get to them by dashing is often just so long that they already start falling down, but it's possible.
