The devs acknowledged crashing on consoles but no word on PC was ever said. I tried lowering the graphics settings to normal, I disabled anti-aliasing and ambient occlusion (this may have helped a little bit), nothing fixes the problem. I reinstalled the game, repaired and verified files. My drivers are up to date. At least I want to know if devs are aware of this since the problem is here for 3 months now.

I found out (and reported already) that the crashing is caused by limiting FPS to 60. Only 'fix' is to use a program that allows to turn the FPS limit on/off during gameplay. Bandicam allows that for example. Capping FPS only after the match is fully loaded and uncapping it between matches seems to be the way to go.

  • I just loaded up to play properly today, I'm still not crashing straight away, but it crashes to desktop a 5-10 minutes in. So when I thought it worked it was just because I didn't play long enough for it to crash... This is even the case for singleplayer instant play, so it's not network related.

I tried DirectX 11 and played through a match. So that seems to be the way to go until they fix whatever is wrong with the DirectX 12 version of the game.

@TanukiTrooper I don't use DIrectX 12 anyway so there is something wrong with the way the game loads new maps. At least on my end. Really pisses me off because yesterday I played for like 1,5 hour without any problems and today it crashed after one match...

  • Good Morning,

I was facing the same issue as mentioned by the others, BFII crashing to desktop soon as it finished loading the game, however the fix provided by @TToxxic worked for me 30 seconds work to get the game running again. 😇

..."Please open the "ProfileOptions_profile" file with the notebook. You can find the file in "C: \ Users \ Username \ Documents \ STAR WARS Battlefront II \ settings".

Find the line "GstRender.ShadowQuality", delete the line and save the file, then restart the game."...
