just making sure those of you posting in the last few hours know that matchmaking was turned off. Maybe that's why you're not seeing much difference.

@EA_Ataashi Just a little feedback on matchmaking.
I know @DarthFDG said matchmaking was turned off yesterday, but prior to that I found the games much more competitive most of the time which is a plus. What did happen though, was that the maps were repetitive. When I joined a game, once that round/map was finished, the notification at the bottom of the screen SEARCHING FOR GALACTIC ASSAULT may come up. Once it found a game in any era and finished the rounds in that era, the matchmaking would again search and many times you would end up playing the map prior to your last. For example, if I started playing on Kashyyyk, finished and then went to Kamino, finished both rounds there, the matchmaking could have me back on Kashyyyk again. Map rotation seems to have gone out the window. I'm not sure whether it is trying to keep a player in the same era all the time. I hope I explained this well enough. The repetition of maps is annoying and as it stands I rarely get to play some maps.

to add to this...
I found I would sometimes end up on the same side (e.g. darkside) multiple times in a row.
This didn't bother me much. I'd rather be on the same side with an even match than different sides with an uneven match. I just wanted to call it out for anyone interested.
Again matchmaking has been on is this permanent now, I hope not because it is still 💩

@EA_Ataashi - Matchmaking was turned on even though it is not working. Its not matching people with equal skills and is placing people in lobbies where the sit and wait - i.e. takes longer to get in matches than before. This is a step backwards.
Can you please get it turned off?
Thx

For those of you seeing the same thing (e.g. @Tinogiggedy) ...
I found out via other channels that EA is aware of the issue and working on it.

@EA_Ataashi - It's time.
Matchmaking needs to be turned off ASAP. It's not working and causing issues with gameplay. Players are not happy.

Star Wars Battlefront II EOR Matchmaking Test update.
We are seeing games are fuller, which is something we aimed to achieve. We have plans for tweaks with the goal of reducing the time to Matchmake.
We've got some back-end changes going live this morning in Star Wars Battlefront II which should improve the EOR MM experience. There will be no downtime required for this. - DarthFDG7 years agoHero+

Fuller games sounds like a good improvement.
Unfortunately, the core of players' matchmaking expectations, ensuring similarly-skilled players are playing against each other, is simply not working. Most matches are still unevenly matched - as if its not actually matchmaking at all.
One idea I saw someone suggest to make this immediately more amiable for players - make matchmaking optional at the end of round. Instead of forcing the matchmake countdown, require players to press the matchmake button if they want to matchmake into a different lobby. Leave them where they're at otherwise. This seems like a stop-gap that could be implemented very quickly.

We're making some changes to the map rotation in Star Wars Battlefront II and will be reverting back to the full rotation now that some of our tests have concluded.
This change are now live.
@DarthFDG I'll send that feedback over to the team. Thanks. 🙂)

EOR MM is still stinking out the house💩. I will give you an example. I was playing GA attacking on Kashyyyk. We lost in the final phase. None the less I finished 1st some 15k points ahead of anyone else with over double the eliminations of anyone else. The rest of the leader board was the opposition and in fact my team mates were ranked so low in terms of score that 2nd on my team was placed around 11th on the board. The oppositions 1st 8 places had eliminations of 35 down to 26 in 8th. Second place on my team had 28, 3rd had 16, down to around 11 by 5th and 6th place and the rest then dropped considerably. The opposition clearly played the objective far better than my team and got superior eliminations, I'm not even sure how we got to the final phase. So it goes to the EOR MM after the game and it puts me back onto the attacking side with the sides mixed up slightly but most of the top players that were my opposition in the 1st round were now on my side. To say we trampled them would be an understatement, I have never had an attacking game of GA on Kashyyyk finish so quickly. Got to phase 2 without an ion disruptor even hitting the MTTs I'm not even sure if the opposition even managed to pick one up expect when the checkpoints move back. Surely that's not how the EOR MM is supposed to work, that's ridiculous. Also find it taking me to lobbies that don't fill with increased regularity. Seriously please listen to @DarthFDG and switch it off.
I finally got to play a game of hero starfighter for the first time in a few weeks. (Seriously, try to find a full game!)
My side swept the match, then the evil Matchmaking prompt came up.
Next thing I know, I'm in a lobby Waiting on 7 players. 😬

We're currently in the process of rolling out some backend changes to Star Wars Battlefront II.
We saw some big improvements in the 'time to matchmake' from the last deployment we did, and the goal of this one is to improve it further. Please keep the feedback coming.

We're seeing some nice improvements in matchmaking time on Galactic Assault. Let us know your own experiences.
Matchmake in GA works pretty decent, however my issue is matchmake for all modes is not needed. My issue stems from being in a good match with plenty of players to getting pushed out and put into a lobby that is empty, it either takes 20 min to fill or doesn't fill at all and I have to quit and start the process of finding a game lobby with players again. thank you for listening.
Seeing the exact opposite of improved times to find a game in GA. It's now taking significantly longer to find a game in the first place and then the matchmaking makes it a significantly longer wait between games for lobbies to remain completely unbalanced. Now I also seem to be getting placed in lobbies that display the slow connection nonsense with increased regularity, enough to make it annoying at the amount of lobbies I'm having to back out of. I guess you guys at EA define the word improvement quite loosely.

@Tinogiggedy- Hi.
It looks like I have posting in the wrong thread on this issue. I have had the same problem as you and others but as of yesterday, it seems to have been fixed. Check my recent posts in Technical Issues/ EOR Matchmaking Test, Strike and Blast. My latest games though tended to be over before the objectives could be completed but not necessarily one sided more of a win one - lose one scenario. So maybe they are getting closer to an acceptable outcome for MM although I agree it seems to be taking longer to get into a game initially. The biggest frustration I have is getting games in other modes than GA or HvsV. - DarthFDG7 years agoHero+
I'm getting into matches must faster today.
Matches seem a bit more balanced, but a long way from even. That may just be coincidence.
- ggibb657 years agoHero (Retired)@DarthFDG - I agree. MM seems to be improving but last night the first couple of games were very uneven but levelled up after a couple of rounds. I was thinking the group play system might be a problem for MM to overcome. Friends try to stick together. What happens if MM tries to split them up?
After a few weeks of MM I am still struggling with it. I am based in the UK playing on PC and can get into a GA match quite easily; my issue is the EOR procedure.
When the EOR kicks in I get lifted from a full server and 9/10 times get dropped into a near-empty server that is waiting for players, then I have to hope that the players already there stay long enough for the match to actually start. I now spend a long time look at load outs and menus when really if I had been left in the full server I would be into another match already.
I know a lot of people complained about the lack of MM in the game and it is great that you guys listen and respond to the community, however I think the route you have chosen for MM is not the best; it would be a far better experience to have a simple team scramble at EOR, that way the existing server remains full and the players don't have to wait longer than the standard 1min for a new match to start. At present you are very lucky to have anything less than a 5min wait between matches, may not seem like much but it is very frustrating to just sit and stare at menus, waiting and waiting.
Please take MM out

@EA_Ataashi/ @EA_Atic - I agree with what @GOD_IV wrote with the exception of turning off MM. I think MM is getting there but still needs a few tweaks. My experience last night was somewhat confusing and disappointing. The next paragraph will explain the sequence of events.
Joined a game of GA on Endor (39 players in lobby) played both matches and by the end had full lobby. The matches were very uneven and were over before the AT-AT was captured. MM took us to Kamino after a short wait. Still full lobby, the matches were even going to the final objective with a win for each side. Good, MM had done it's job. THEN!! MM kicked in again and I found myself in a half empty lobby (9 on one side, 12 on the other) back on Kamino and halfway through a match!! When this match finished, I never got to play the 2nd match because the lobby had emptied. I quit and searched for another game. Ended up back on Endor in a game that had already started with just enough players to continue. Again, after that match the lobby emptied and I had to start over again. Found another match on Deathstar II and for the rest of the night everything went normally - nearly full/full lobbies - win one, lose one games.
My questions are - why did MM pull me out of a full lobby, put me in a just enough lobby and in a game that had already started? Is MM preferring groups over single players? I would have thought that once a lobby was full and matches relatively even, a player would stay in that lobby and go through the normal map rotation. It appears the AI (MM) algorithm is taking over the game.👿
I also would like to ask, I have mentioned many times in other threads but have yet to receive an answer - Why can't I get a game in Hero Starfighters, Strike, Blast, Extraction, Ewok Hunt & Starfighter Assault? Have not been able to get a game in any of these since the ping site issue was fixed with the exception of SA - one game a couple of weeks ago. Tried many times, different times of day/night, different ping sites. Just end up in empty lobbies that never fill. Frustrating when trying to complete daily challenges/milestones etc.☹️
Feedback from me...
1. Matchmaking should happen after each match, not after two matches, because if the team is awful, most people will quit between matches and probability of having a good allies to compete with against the enemy team are low.
2. If a match is one-sided, usually in HVV, the best player from the other team will usually be very unskilled. Therefore after matchmaking, teams are still unbalanced. It would be wise to create global ranking, so the matchmaking takes that into account.
Otherwise I had no problems with the matchmaking and I think it is getting better!
@ggibb65 makes a good point I want to back up - the EOR often sends you back into a map you have recently played and often to the same side. I think a MM when you first go into a server is fine, then after that there should be a team scramble function with a regular map rotation. If you want to be really epic you could have a next map vote system, but lets fix one issue at a time 😉
