Re: Hackers like on Original Battlefront

Hey @nygmaa47,

rest assured we're constantly looking into this. As long as there are computer games, there will be people trying to manipulate things to their own advantage. There is a sound community though that does a great job in reporting those players, and there are several mechanisms in place to make sure cheaters will be sanctioned.

And trust me, if FairFight "literally" did nothing, out Terms of Service department would be less busy. So just kick back, relax, and enjoy the wait for the beta by checking out more infos about the story here.

There is no way of reporting players on SW:BF. They can hack and get away with it and there isn't one way of flagging them up as hackers. Load up Battlefront if you have it and tell me hackers aren't on there after a few games. Some openly laugh about it!

Make sure you add an option to report hackers/players.

    Hey @nygmaa47,

the reporting flow in SWBF would be having Origin In-Game enabled, then while the round is going hit Esc, select "Players", click on the player name you want to report.

The Origin profile page of the user will pop up, you should see an orange "Send friend request" button in the top right corner. Click the arrow next to it and there's a report button.

I'm glad to hear EA is looking into it, but as a regular player I can tell you relying on existing measures and the reporting system simply isn't doing enough.

I'm sure Fairfight works to a degree, the issue is the measures all together aren't working to the degree required when almost every game you join has at least 1 hacker ruining the entire match. I log on every day, play in the little free time I have, then quit because a hacker is ruining any match I join. The experience is not nice, so something definitely needs to change.

From what I can see, the reporting system is not effective. Currently it simply takes too long to ban someone. I've seen consistent hackers banned only after weeks or months, not sooner - and the rest simply aren't or haven't been banned yet. From the players' point of view, based on chat, there is little faith in the reporting system. That's what it comes down to, how effective it's being perceived as, and whether players are likely to consequently use it.

Aside from any anti-cheat system a kick feature would be most welcome. The only time I see consensus in a match chat is when the majority recognise an obvious hacker. Give them the power to do something.

It would be nice to get more transparency on this, and I look forward to hearing of more information being released in the future. But, at this point, I won't be buying BF2 simply because, without information on new measures being taken or EA addressing the current crisis in BF, what's to stop me thinking EA won't care after a while with BF2?

Some food for thought from a player who loves the franchise and want to see it succeed.

  • Rest assured your not doing * about hackers. The game is a * joke right now, minimum 20% hackers in every single game. People i have reported over 1000 times are still there hacking. You are literally not doing * at all, no game in the world have even 1% of as much problems cause of cheaters as SW:BF. Why, cause you have no system like EVERYONE else wich detects hacker programs running while origin/games are running, that something(hacks) are manipulating your games. You have no system that detects unusual behavior/score/win rate/Kill-Death ratio and so on. Look at other games made by other companies, and you will see that they have almost no hackers at all, why, cause they have a system that * up the hackers and getting them banned within hours, sometimes even minutes after they start cheating. Some companies even ban entire accounts(all games on account), entire IP-adresses, physical adresses, phone numbers, real life identities and so on so they cant even access websites, apps, servers, games, shops(so they cant rebuy and start hacking again, also paymentform bans, entire paypal accounts, credit card bans and so on).

I think(just a guess) that you have no one or extremely few people who are employed to stop hackers/actively work only with banning and investigating and such while other companies have 50-100 people working constantly 24/7 with this, wich obviously gives compleatly different results compared to what looks like an automated system on EA's side.

I bet EA dont do anything of the things i have mentioned except once in a while ban a player here and there. This is very sad and have completly ruined what should have been the greatest game ever made. Right now it'snothing but an unplayable mess, If possible refund me the 120 euro i once paid!!!

I know you have other systems in place but a quick web search will find you hacks that appear to have existed for months or even years which have never been addressed.

I think it is a valid concern of people being asked to spend so much on the new Battlefront 2 to not have their experience completely ruined by cheaters that can get away with cheating. "Rest assured" isn't really that reassuring since Battlefront has terrible issues with cheaters, most games these days seem to have at least one person openly cheating and it seems like no matter how many people report them they are able to keep doing it. Our fear is that Battlefront 2 will be more of the same.

  • Turns out people are hacking the game already, now admittedly I've played about 10 rounds in the beta and only come across it in one game but the top player on one team had a score of over 50 inside 2 minutes and had the ability to fly from the start, most players from both teams left but it's really disappointing that it looks like EA aren't worried about this, and IF anyone from EA replies to this, which let's face it they probably won't as it's easier to ignore issues than address them as with the missing beta access for many that pre-ordered, then NO reporting them isn't the solution because when we do the same players keep coming back and doing it again.

  • Hacking literally killed the first game for me. DLC and lack of depth aside, I enjoyed the first couple of weeks in the first game. Then it got to a point where I couldn't get through a play session without having at least one blatant hack kill the server. On more than one occasion, one hacker would leave only to be replaced a round or two later by someone else.  It prompted uninstalls from myself and most of the people I played with.  I reinstalled some time later to check out some of the dlc that I had yet to play, only to be IMMEDIATELY confronted with the same thing.  Months later.  I gave it approximately 3 play sessions across 48 hrs or so.  Obvious hacking each time.  Submitted reports each time. And uninstalled again. No progress was made with regards to aggressively addressing hacking in the first game. Period.  In the beta I can't say with any conviction that I've encountered hacking with the exception of one round but even that wasn't blatant enough to convince me.   I truly hope that something is being done to address and agree with the previous request for transparency in this regard.  The single player game modes make this iteration somewhat more viable but everyone is REALLY purchasing this game for the multiplayer interaction.

TBH intially I was excited about SWBF2, but after playing for a few hours I picked up on what seemed like someone running a hack. I saw him/her on separate days of the beta winning every one of the top stats. It seemed a little fishy and honestly makes me question if I want to pre-order or not. I might just wait a couple weeks after release to see what people say on the subject.

  • Seeing Hacking in BF 2 and knowing they are going to try to use fair fight again.

I will not be ordering this.

I Quit BF 1 because of hackers and the poor excuses Dice keep giving us.

    @EA_Joker

Pre-orders are both bread and butter. That way cheating does not affect sales. They know the average buyer all too well.

    I'll wait for a discount.
