I agree with you all if the ion turrets have stopped tracking troopers but are you sure? On Crait, I use the turret to assist in taking down the speeders. When there were no speeders or obvious opponent turrets (my Ion torps didn't pick up any targets), it was still targeting something and was getting Kills/kill assists with it.
