Yeah, just keep plugging away. The counters have been wonky since the game released. There are multiple existing posts about this, if you want to go digging. However, the "resolution" is always to keep playing the objective and wait for the counter to catch up.

You could try refreshing your cache. However, I'm not convinced this will fix it.
