Sound cutting out

That sounds like a driver issue.  My mouse, an old Kensington, works fine.

Yes this happened to me at least 3 times now. Can't get my sound/music back on after it happened. Need to restart the game/restart computer before I get my sound back.

It's a MS Wheel Mouse Optical USB. I checked the driver and it's up to date. No other application causes this issue and it's not the Origin app because that doesn't do it either. It only happens when BF2 launches.

To clarify - you're talking about the scroll wheel, right?

What exactly are you trying to scroll in the game?

On second thought - you should probably search for "scroll" and see if your issue has already been reported.  It's likely completely different from the sound issue and deserves its own thread.

Anyone have a fix for this? How about EA with an update to fix all the other bugs too?

This has happened to me twice today, i'm on PC.

Unfortunately I don't have any hope that DICE will fix this bug. Why? This bug has been present in all of DICE's games running on the Frostbite engine since Battlefield 3 launched over six years ago, including Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, Battlefield 1, Star Wars Battlefront, Star Wars Battlefront II, and Mirror's Edge: Catalyst. I know because I have played them all and experienced the same issue in each of them (except Star Wars Battlefront, which I only played for 4 hours), even when playing on different platforms. I've also read that it is a common bug in many other Frostbite games such as Dragon Age: Inquisition, Mass Effect: Andromeda, and FIFA 2017. It has not been fixed in any of those games, so I would be rather surprised if they fix it in this one.

Just take a look at this huge EA Answers HQ thread for the same issue in Andromeda, which is currently up to 324 points and 179 replies: loss of sound on mass effect andromeda

According to posts #148 and #159 in that thread, BioWare has confirmed that this is a known issue with the Frostbite engine.

I don't recall it happening at all in Battlefront, and I played that just a tad bit more than 4 hours.  😉

On the bright side - I really haven't had it happen for several days now.  May be just dumb luck...

That's part of the trouble with this bug: its presence can be rather sporadic, which likely makes it difficult to find and fix the source. In Battlefield 3, I would estimate that I experienced this bug at least 25 times – sometimes twice within an hour, and sometimes only once within 15 hours. It only happened perhaps once during the more than 35 hours I put into Mirror's Edge: Catalyst. In Battlefront II, it has only happened to me once or twice in my 85 hours of play.

These are just my numbers, though; some people experience it more often, others less. Some people in that Andromeda thread have reported that the bug appears during nearly every single multiplayer match they play.
