Spawn and Respawn can not move issue

I have had numerous issues when spawning in BFII PC version where the main character will not move and is locked down.  It happens most often when starting a new map and spawning with new team members.  I have also had it happen during a re-spawn after being killed in the current game.  It becomes most infuriating when you get killed because of this lock down issue.  And I have killed opposing team players who appeared to be having the same issue.  They could not move or could only shoot in one direction.

The only way I have found to clear this issue and keep playing the current game is to hit the escape key to bring up the game engine menu to quit, change character, or exit game then reenter the game using the Resume option and pray someone does not kill you first.  After hitting the resume button you are able to move normally again.

I think this issue is related to some programming issue that could be easily fixed, because I have noticed that the recurrence of this issue seems to related to if other keyboard presses were made during the intervening time it takes for the game to change the different screens between re-spawns.  I have not been able to consistently recreate the problem to know which or what the issue is but I do have some programming experience to know it can be fixed.

It might could be fixed by clearing the keyboard and mouse command buffer right before the main character is initialized and spawned in game waiting for a keyboard or mouse commands from the player.  I have had this issue all the way through each update hoping it would get fixed.

The other problem with this scenario is the escape key is right next to the "~" key which brings up your game engine command entry screen and locks down all other functions on the PC version of Star Wars Battlefront II game which adds more frustration to the game progression if you are trying to move fast before getting killed at your spawn point which is addressed in another issue where the spawn engine will spawn an opposition team member 0-10 seconds in the same location you are currently located in.

Hey @WhippingT Thanks for the info!

Seen similar issues happen if you play on pc and have Joystick or controller connected to the PC. Try moving the SWBF2 document folder to the desktop and then shut of cloud saves In Origin. Start the game (all settings will be reset including arcade and camping progression, hens why we are saving the old document folder)

I've had similar problems on the Xbox One. After spawning, the character would not load and I cant move. When playing Heroes vs Villains, ive become the target while waiting for my character to load and can get attacked while i could not do anything about it. Ive seen other players just stand still when spawning right after dying from an active battle, they must be going though the same thing on their end.

  • Hey @WhippingT Thanks for all that information! You don't happen to have a controller/joystick plugged in?

@DarthSeveren Do you have the network bar warning up in the corner?

I am using the PC version of Battlefront II with a mouse and keyboard.  I do not have any notification of a network issue or problem.  I do have some programming experience and the issue does not seem to be related to a network communications issue.  But to some programming of the game character control issue after it first spawns or re-spawns in the current game.  I have not had much problems in the Hereos vs Villians mode.  It happens most often in Blast or Strike mode and some times in Assault mode.  It seems to be happening less often now, but it will do it at least once during a 3 to 8 hour game playing session.
